It's nice to know that I'm not alone in the cockpit. On the one hand, I'm glad to be working, but, on the other hand, I wish I could sit back and relax for one day.

I think I may be finished by this afternoon on this one transcript. Then I'm going to pack up my Sammy dog, go to Starbucks, and take a nice long walk in the park. With the crisp air and the foliage, I absolutely adore this time of year.
  • Deborah M.

I love it! I also like making address labels to send out my transcripts -- they look so nice and professional with my little border around them, and once they're in the computer, I can print them over and over, as I freelance for about 30 agencies! Better than a phonebook.

Janet, sorry to hear about the pain in the thumbs. That sounds like it hurts... OUCH! I was planning on buying a new machine but I kind of like the idea of having the audio backup. The only thing is coming up with $5,000!!! Thanks for your response and I hope your thumbs don't hurt anymore!
  • Elsie Zecchino

Thanks for the quick response Janet, I did try out the Diamante as well Sunday and it's pretty amazing (even at my turtle speed). The cost is what is so scary about all of the equipment and software. Buying it all at once is a MAJOR commitment! I will get back to you about the LS asap, I'm making a decision soon. Thanks for your advice about getting a professional writer now, as I get a little faster every month I realize I'm getting closer and closer to getting certified and working.

P.S. LOVE the song you have playing on your page, one of my favorites!

HI Janet ~ Yes, that's our Bear (aptly named by the kids:). He's actually our second Bernese Mountain Dog. My sister had a Swissy for a bit ~ great dogs, but they have a little bit of a different temperament. Bear is very sweet and a great family dog.
    Great music and photos, Janet!!
  • Melia Shell

Just wanted to check and see if I'd already thanked you for the nice birthday wish this morning, went to your page, and what begins to play?

It's a Wonderful World!! It certainly is! And made even more so with great people in it like those who live in The Nation!! Thanks for the music, it hit the spot!

Really made my day special. Plus, I have some scoping work!! Gifts, all around!! :-) Friends and work, what else do we need? (cheesecake?) (more work?) blessings!

    Hi Janet,

Thank you for your kind thoughts and welcome message. I am looking to expand my business, make new friends, and learn all I can.

    Janet,

Yes, I am one of the major Eclipse fans on this site. I hesitated posting the picture of my desk on here. That was taken when I first got Eclipse, and I was working on my dictionary.

I've had a girlfriend over here the last couple of days, and we have been reorganizing my office. As soon as I finish tidying it, I think it will be vastly improved. The flow is much better now. Got rid of a huge desk. Now it is sitting in the carport ...

I have been following the Diamante threads. Drat that LightSpeed! Have you sold yours yet? I am quite happy with the Grand, although it is still slightly stacking. I can't remember if you ever tried writing on one or not. I will never go back if I can help it!

I have seen that show ~ it's good!! Yeah, he does shed, but not too bad with regular baths. I grew up with labs and I actually prefer the long hair to the short hair. With the long hair at least it accumulates in dust bunnies and lays on top of things so it's easier to maintain and pick up. And when I babysit my parents lab, I always find the short hair sticks in everything (couch, rug) and is harder to vacuum ~ it's like your house got a haircut:) Just different preferences ~ I guess either way you get hair!! But temperament is sweet as can be ~ great family and kid dog, not that I'm biased ;))

    Have a great day!!

Hi, Janet. Oh, I love this time of year. Our trees are in full bloom of color. It is so beautiful. Here I am stuck at the computer all week. I hope I can get out this weekend and enjoy it for a spell.

Hope all is well with you! Tomorrow is TGIF! :-)
  • Sandra Mitchell

Hi Janet, yes, I'm interested in the Mira -- definitely. Let me know when, what and where and how much...
    Thanks,
    S.

Janet, "You Raise Me Up" is my fav. song. I even bought the sheet music to play it on the piano. Weeks later, I'm still practicing it. To see this boy play it what looks like by "ear" is incredible. It makes me want to give up, but that, I won't. Thanks for posting this. I really, really enjoyed it.
  • Tricia McLaughlin

Oh, Janet, I hear you. I've got two expedites, plus a few other tripts. There doesn't seem to be enough time in the day lately. My internet was bogged down the last couple of day. Dunno what's going on!
  • Julie Samford

Oh, Janet, the cruise was AMAZING! We had the best time... all 65 of us! I'm hoping to do another one out of California in March. I sure hope you can join us next time. :)

Ahhh!! I am totally interested in the LS! I've replied to so many posts about LS. I hope I didn't already respond and have forgotten it was you. :) I'm still trying to come up with funds and what to do. I've been talking about it so much lately and some family members have actually given me hints they are trying. I'm talking to my grandmother tomorrow about it. Fingers crossed! :)
  • Jennie Ann

Merry Christmas to you and your lovely family, Janet!

  • Anastasia Phillips

Thank you so much, Janet. I need those words of encouragement. :)

Hey Janet, Happy New Year! It's been quite a while as I've been working during the day in a lawfirm and studying at night. I'm almost through the academics and then I'm pushing for speed. Thank you so much for the birthday wishes. You are such a dear to remember! What's new? Still working hard? Are you in court or are you captioning? Looking forward to hearing from you. Vicki
  • Vicki McHugh

Hi Janet, yes, we received quite bit of snow last week and it has been very cold! -13 (c) for us, but only 5 degrees (f) for you. Sable puts her coat on to go outside now! ;) Yes, when I only have one job, I'll be very happy. Hopefully soon! I'm glad it's picking up for you. I am really looking forward to the flexibility. That must be a wonderful thing. How's the Diamante? Is it as good as it looks? I would love your feedback on that. Have a wonderful week!
  • Jennie Ann

Thanks for the kind words, Janet.

I usually am an early riser. Today, though, I got up before the roosters. LOL
  • Lynnette Copenhaver

    Hello, Janet.

Of course I had to stop by your page on this site and see what you've done.  As usual, I LOVE IT!!!  I can't wait to see what you and Kelli do eventually if she decides to merge the two sites.

    Have a great week.

    Lynnette

Hi Janet ~ Thanks for the message!! Yeah, I'm still here :) Work's been slow, so I have more time to look on forums ~ esp. when I got the message that CSRnation was back! And Bear (the dog) is doing well ~ still big, fluffy, and happy :)

    Have a great weekend.
  • Tricia McLaughlin

    Janet,

I just clicked on your video of You Raised Me Up (still playing).  I'm sitting here crying comfort tears.  You know how much that song means to be!   Blah......................get the tissues out!

Janet, take a pic of your splash and let us see! It is fun to change things up a bit!

  • Keith Rowan II

Hey, Janet!  Thanks for the message! I think I will like the freedom and the challenge.  It's very exciting.  I hope you're doing well.

  • Kelli Combs (admin)

Wow, Janet.  Poor you today.  There is no way in hell I would take a job like that.  You're a better reporter than I, that's all I can say.  Or at least a lot more brave!!

  • Kelli Combs (admin)

Love the new look!!  Colors are nice.  Sort of looks like it looked a while ago when I put in the basic one they have of the ocean scene.  I like this one better I think.

  • Quyen

Thanks for the add, Janet! :)

  • Joyce Davis

Janet, Kelli tells me you are responsible for the current backdrop on many of our pages.  I love the fact that scrolling up and down, you can see the image surrounding the currect page.  Neat.  Thanks for the visual treat...j

If I ever get a good shot of the Houston skyline, I will.

  • Janiece Young

    Hi, Janet,

Yes, I am a little partial to Ms. Lola.  They sure change fast.

    Hope you are well.

HI Janet!   OMG it has been a long time.   I'm back here, in NH, finally.   I go back to FL now and then, but this is my main address now.   My kids go to high school in Wolfeboro, and I moved all of my horses up here to a barn we built.   I've been back almost a year now.   I was freelancing with my old firm in NH, but they really didn't need me, were just being nice taking me back, and I was hearing grumblings that some folks thought I was taking work away from them.   So, I just went out on my own.   I'm taking overflow work and work for out-of-town agencies.   I just found CSRNation today, and hopefully I can hook up with some old colleagues.   I'd love to spread my name around for referrals.   I saw your page on here, I didn't know you could do that.   I'll have to put something together.

It sounds like you're doing great!   I saw your pictures, too.   Your girls, I take it?   You have a beautiful family.   I hope all is well, and maybe I'll run into you one of these days.   Did you hear about the Eclipse training in FL February 2 and 3?   It's 10 minutes from my house down there, so I'm definitely going.   I need a dose of Jeremy training anyway.   I was captioning only for the last 4 years that I was in FL, and I love being back in the freelance world.   But I haven't kept up with a lot of the newest features, since I didn't have to edit anything captioning.

Well, I look forward to seeing you sometime!

    Take care,

    Cheri

Hello Janet.  I am a former court reporter of 4 years turned scopist for the past 22 years.  I am looking to add on to my client base.  I have heard great things about your reporting.  It's a blessing that there are still reporters out there who take their profession seriously!  I am on Eclipse V4 and V5.  I have very competitve rates and excellent turnaround times.  If you're interested, please contact me.  Thank you!

  • Stacy Tegner

Hi Janet ~ thanks for checking in and saying that :)  I do stop by once in a while and look around.  Things just seem so busy with kids, work, and life, that I don't contribute much.  I'm sure it will change ~ it seems to ebb and flow.  I hope you're doing well and keeping busy!!

  • Jessica Shivers

Hi Janet!! I'm really new on here so I am trying to learn how to do stuff here. Hopefully I will be able to get use to is soon :)

  • Kelli Combs (admin)

    Thanks, Janet

Ugh, 48.  It goes so quickly.  Instead of working, I was going to do my taxes.  Doesn't that sound way more fun?  LOl

Hope you have a great wseekend.  Love the backdrop on your page.  Looks like the Sierras in Tahoe.  Beautiful.

  • Jenny Griffin, RMR CRR CCRR CRC

Janet, I posted an LS comment on Kelli's page.  Go over there when you have a minute.  I wish you the best with your Lightspeed too!

So glad you are happy with your writer. Tweaking can be so much work!

  • Kelli Combs (admin)

Janet, what kind of wrist support do you use on your wrist for work?  Just curious.

  • Kelli Combs (admin)

Oh, very nice.  I'll order a couple of these.  Thanks, Janet.  Seems you always are the pulse on everything.  Love that about you!!

  • Kelli Combs (admin)

I ordered these today.  You haven't tried them yet?  I like the cushion on the bottom part of the arm.  Let me know what you think when you get them.  I'm constantly buying new items for work on Amazon and eBay to make my life easier for work.  Never-ending endeavor to get it just perfect.

  • Kelli Combs (admin)

Most reporters have pain there.  I don't - only in my left wrist and forearm and not the shoulder, upper back area.  That'd be great if I had those probs, though.  Love the leopard one the best.

  • Jean-Marie A. Browne

Hi Janet,  what prices are you selling the machines for?  especially the 8000 LX?

    Thanks
