Happy Birthday (HOT!)
HAPPY (early) BIRTHDAY!!! :)
I found your page using the Search Tool. I'm looking to talk with CART providers. May I ask you a few questions?
Well, a little about me first, so you know what you're dealing with! :) I'm a court reporter student going to Tri Community in West Covina. I'm almost at 160 WPM (gotta pass a Q&A test). I heard that CART providers need to be at least at 180 WPM before any school would consider them for employment.
Here are my questions:
1. Do you find going to school and being a CART provider somehow distracts your goals of finishing school and becoming certified?
2. How did you start CART-ing? Did you go to the schools, or did they seek you out?
3. Do your court reporting teachers have any pros and cons advice about CART-ing while going to school? The teachers at my school generally discourage it because they say you can pick up bad habits like not hearing every word and then having to transcribe NOT verbatim but by paraphrasing. And this, of course, works against us students when we MUST write everything verbatim.
Your thoughts and feedback is so much appreciated! Hope to talk to you soon! Thank you!
