Seeking an experienced retired Court Reporter or very experienced transcriber to handle court transcriptions. Must be highly skilled in transcription and proficient with formatting requirements, including margins, fonts, and word indexes. Extensive experience is essential.I would really prefer to work with those that work in softwares that have the ability to make their own word indexes and PDFs. I have many long cases and rush jobs. Former legal secretary for 40 years in NY/NJ/Chicago large law firms.  I've been a transcriptionist p/t from home for the past 11 years - mostly legal, but also academic and business lectures.  I worked with a few CSRNation court reporters as clients until COVID came along.  Although the work dried up somewhat, and I was forced to work outside the home, I hear courts are getting busy again, so I am ready to crank out some transcripts, proofed twice, and accurate as usual!

Laws Reporting has over 45 years of court reporting experience in the South Florida area, currently looking for shorthand and QWERTY transcriptionists to work from home transcribing criminal court transcripts. All experience levels are welcome as transcripts range from discovery depositions to court proceedings and appeals.  We can meet your needs with 15 minutes to multiple days of transcription.  Audio files are provided through our online cloud system along with the job’s worksheets that include spelling of attorney names and audio times indicating the beginning and ending of the court proceeding, eliminating the need to research through a whole day’s audio. I am looking for some assistance transcribing some FTR files -- I have up to 20 hours.  I will need to have any files back by Tuesday, July 20.  Will pay $3/page.  I will be reviewing, so you don't need to have it proofread before returning it to me.  They are in witness examinations, as small as an hour, up to five hours.  Will also have some other projects coming up, so let me know if you are interested in those as well.

I need a typist and/or scopist.  I have a one-hour audio I need returned about 2:00 tomorrow, CST.  This is extremely easy.  Audio is great.  Two attys and the witness is a psychiatrist.  Plaintiffs in M/V accident.  I have done 99 pages and there's one hour left.  Somehow broke my computer. It probably saw me with no make-up on.  Anyway, I am on Case Catalyst, but since it's just being typed it doesnt matter.  I dont know anything about Word software, but it doesnt matter.  I will try to email my set up numbers if I can.  I might be able to srnd a pdf, but not sure.  Let me know your rates are for the future.  For this depo, because the turnaround is so quick, I will pay most of what I would get for a copy.  I will let you know what that is.

Job Description

Legal Transcribers Needed: Transcription agency located in New Jersey is a certified legal transcription company currently seeking candidates to subcontract for our company. This is a telecommuting position, but you must be willing to travel to NJ to take the State test.

We are looking for candidates with a minimum of six months legal transcription experience, but we are willing to help motivated individuals get started in the transcription industry.

You must possess excellent grammar and punctuation skills, a basic understanding or the ability to quickly learn about court procedures and terms, and a fast, accurate typing speed. Ideal candidates should be able to type 80-100 wpm. Court reporters are also ideal for this position.

Required Equipment:

• A computer with Windows 7 operating system or higher with a fast internet connection
• A pair of high quality headphones
• Infinity USB foot pedal

Required Software:

• Filezilla
• WordPerfect
• NJ Lawyer’s Diary/Legal Dictionary

Pay is based on a per page basis and the requested turnaround time. The ability to meet deadlines is crucial. Required turnaround time will vary from 1 day to 26 days. Must be available weekends and nights as needed.

Pay

Training: You will be given training files to familiarize yourself with the work and our procedures. Please note the rates below are the training rates only.

Training Rates are $1.00 per page. Once certified, your rate will be based on the turnaround time for each job assigned to you.

IMPORTANT: The candidate must pass the NJ State Certification exam, which needs to be taken in person. Please note, it is required that all work is completed by NJ Certified Transcribers, and no alternative certifications are available. The candidate must be willing to travel to NJ to take the exam. If you are not willing to travel for this test, please do not respond.

We can only accept typists who reside in the US. You must be a US citizen to apply for this position. Also, the candidate must pass a background check.

We are looking for candidates to begin working as soon as possible and candidates who are interested in a long-term position. You must produce 50 pages per week in training.

After 6 months of being New Jersey state certified you must be able to produce 300 pages per week. You will be required to rotate on daily orders, which are due the next business morning.
