Am learning theory on my own at home and need mental motivation. It's hard to keep at it all day when you're on your own. Any ideas on how to stay motivated? I haven't even begun speed, am still trying to learn real time theory as opposed to about two months of theory learned at technical center years ago. Old habits are hard to break.

Thanks Jeanese, I needed that!!!
Tina, I'm actually online with Penn Foster, but so far I've done nothing online but register. They sent me the first set of tapes and the books that go along with it and I just have to work my way through it. I did study in a classroom a few years ago, but it wasn't real time and there are a lot more briefs so far with real time. That's part of what's throwing me off, trying to undo what I'd already learned. They also sent me a 400 SRT once half of my tuition was paid, but I like my "borrowed" Stentura 8000 better.

Just curious...what at-home course are you taking? I'm considering resuming my CR studies. Thanks!

Thanks for your thoughts. One day at a time is a thousand times better than I've got to get through this whole book. Especially when there are about twelve books to get through!

Indeed, Vicki, old habits are hard to break. However, motivation is another story. What I do to stay on track with my practice schedule is I make an appointment to practice. Every day, at the same time, I practice. I have a recurring appointment in my Blackberry that tells me it's time to practice 15 minutes before the scheduled time. I just know automatically that at 9 o'clock every morning I practice. Also, I look at my practice as one day at a time, five minutes at a time. Don't look at the whole book and say I have to get through all of this? Look at the book as one chapter at a time. Hope this helps you out. Good luck!!!
