Vendors/Providers/Reporters:

I've sat quietly too long again on this subject of "refresh" on the viewing programs.

I think that I can safely say that most reporters in this profession would greatly appreciate it if they could have the "refresh" feature work with their current software, and, that it would work with all the viewing programs that are available in the market.

Whether I'm on Eclipse and outputting to Livenote or I'm on ProCat outputting to Caseview Net, I feel that we have come to a fork in the road where it is truly time that the protocols for allowing this one feature be available in all viewing programs that are on the market.

I'm not going to sit here and boast about all the wonderful things one software can or can't do; I'm sitting here and calling out all court reporting software vendors and all companies that produce a viewing program for attorneys to step up to the plate, work with each other and share this one feature that cannot be disputed anymore. Attorneys want it, attorneys need it and the profession deserves it. If I have the time to sit down at my laptop during a break in the proceedings and can make my transcript look better for the attorney, then I am going to do that. If I can market one of the programs to an attorney that allows me to do this and refresh his file, you can rest assured that I am going to market that viewing program over one that doesn't do that because at the end of the day, my client deserves the very best that I can give him/her, and, the profession deserves it even more.

Now, I'm only one man in the ring here and don't mean a whole lot to those that don't know me, but, I also believe that by writing this on this forum that I can get others to agree with me and what I am saying. And, if I can get but one person to understand this concept who does mean something more than I do to this profession, then I have faith that this thread will be looked at by those who can make a change in this profession and do something that is truly needed and its time has definitely come.

What I do not want to happen is this topic turn into a bashing of any company or vendor or provider or even a reporter.

I know that for this to happen, there might be some expense....yes, maybe a lot of expense. Vendor/provider, is your stake in this game worth it to the profession???? Do you derive income because of this profession? Doing nothing is the same as saying this profession doesn't matter.

If, after 24 years of reporting, I can step back up to the plate and better myself.....for the profession......then I know that others can.....including companies. You rely on us.......but way more importantly, we rely on you.

Let's come together, work together.....indeed, market our respective products the best way we see fit......and take all of ourselves to the next level......for the profession. Enter this ring with me.....this ring of honor.

Cordially and with resolve,

(tipping hat)
