Dale Sherry, Videographer, passes away Saturday, 11/28/2009

My dear friend and colleague succumbed to his latest bout with cancer on Saturday, November 28, 2009, with his family by his side. We will miss him. He was a good friend, a videographer who took his work (or as he put it, his "art") very seriously, always cordial, professional, and polite with those he worked with. I started working with Dale over 25 years ago when I was first starting out. We had many unusual experiences together professionally, from spending a week in the Chowchilla Women's Prison taking depositions, to being in Taipei for depositions when a 7.7 earthquake hit, to being again in Taipei for Hurricane Nari when everything flooded except the hotel where the depos were, to being again in Taipei on 9/11/01 when the World Trade Centers were hit. We used to joke that every time we went to Taipei for depos some sort of natural or man-made disaster happened and that the people of Taipei were going to ban us from ever coming back. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him and worked with him.

There is a funeral mass and pre-mass vigil this Thursday the 3rd at Saint Mary's Church (2039 Mt. Diablo Blvd.) in Walnut Creek. The viewing and vigil will start at 9am. The mass is at 10am.

Thank you everyone for your kind words. I just came back from his funeral and what a nice tribute to a nice man to have so many people pay their respects. I finally met the family he talked so much about and we all cried and told good stories.

I am sorry to hear about Dale. It sounds like at least he experienced a very exciting life. Not everyone can say that. I am glad his family was around him in his last moments.
