Just wondering if anyone can give me some feedback on using the HP Mini Netbook, or any small notebook-type computer. I want to try out using it for depos, and then come back home and transfer it to my larger laptop. I like the idea of a small computer, and have a small computer now, but I really want to utilize the Mini Netbook computers out there, which are even smaller than what I have presently.
I know there are a lot of reporters that have been using the Acers for realtime, to actually lend to an atty, so I am just curious if anyone is actually using it with their software and audio. I use Eclipse, so I am hoping that someone can give me some idea if it has relatively good audio. I do have a great external mic, so I hope that will work with it. It does come with 3 USB ports, so I would think it would be okay. I am not yet doing realtime output for attys as of right now, but that is something that I want to do in the very near future, so that is also a consideration, as well, for this purchase.
So if anyone has any feedback on this topic I would love to hear it because I'm actually thinking about purchasing one this weekend. Thx!

I am enjoying this blog. it looks like Acer Asire is a favorite.

I have no experience with the HP, but there are some EXCELLENT sales of Sony and Dell this week at Wal-Mart.

I mostly use my Acer Aspire for an extra realtime laptop with Bridge on it for attorneys that fly into the Bay Area and want an extra laptop. I am getting that request a lot lately. Having to carry two or three full-sized laptops is just too heavy for me. Netbooks all the way for me from now on.

I always use my Acer Aspire in depos and edit on my laptop when I get home. Works fine. Just get 2 gig memory, not 1. You will need it to run the software without issues. And turn off the internet capability and all security software. Also set the settings to the least battery-saving, least efficient energy mode so you get the most performance. You will need to keep it plugged in, but it won't shut off realtime (although your software may not give you issues - mine [Cheetah SmartCat] does).

I use my Acer min computer sometimes and transfer the files onto a thumb drive and then put them on my desktop when I get home. Works great. I saw yesterday the HP netbook at Office Depot and it is even a little bit larger, which I like a lot. I think the screen on the Acer is a bit small, especially for reading back, I like a larger screen.

I think the HP would be a good choice. Wish I had gotten that one instead, actually.
