So all is good! - Wonderful! You know Brenda, me and the group here will help you with Eclipse, for sure!

I think it's a guy thing regarding the tech support. They've always helped me - some do have a better attitude, but that's the way it goes.

I just had a long coffee break - and ate up plenty of chocolate chips. I'm supposedly off of sugar - not! I have mainly cut way back, but I sure made up for it just now. So I better finish my job and start working out while the chocolate is working its magic!

I have a complete sewing studio here - just haven't done any sewing in ... forever! I used to crochet and knit too - and I'm really good!!!

One day I will get into having facials. My face is the type where I need the big guns, I'm afraid. It is more important for me at this point to spend the money on massage, but I am hoping that will change one day soon. How I envy you guys for having some rain. That would be so nice here. Especially for the fire!

Yes, the Neti pot is truly fantastic, even though it is gross. If you get one, just do it when no one else is at home, and then clean the sink!

I skipped exercising yesterday as the day before I was on my feet so much. Today there is no excuse. I will do at least 2 miles. That is absolutely fantastic news that your shoulder was better. I know that more circulation brings more healing. You have battled with that shoulder for quite a while now - it is time for it to be a nonissue.

Alan will be gone this evening, and I am looking forward to some TiVo. I have one short job left to get out, and that is it. I called my mom this morning and she wants to know when I can come. Maybe next week after my Tuesday job. It is always hard to make plans, as you know.

I would really like to get my sewing machine out and hem at least one pair of pants this weekend. That is my goal. I will report back. The last time I brought my sewing machine out, it stayed out for three months, and I never used it. Finally, I got sick of seeing it so I put it away. Pathetic!

I have noticed a connection between taking my really good vitamins and the lessening of my hot flashes. They are not as intense as before. A few days ago, I skipped taking my vitamins, and my hot flashes immediately got stronger. That is all the proof I need! Hopefully Brenda will read your post on my page. She spoke of needing some extra B as well.

Did Clay ever get with the program and thank you sufficiently for doing all that scoping for him? He may never forgive me for my comment on his page a few weeks ago! Anymore Eclipse news from you, or is that a sore subject? Did you ever try writing to Eclipse with your own dictionary? It's not that hard to convert a dictionary, apparently. So curious!

Enjoy that facial! My friend Lorna Brodie from this site has regular facials. Her esthetician gives her a hand and arm massage along with it. Sounds so nice!

Enough yakking. My job awaits me. Can't wait to cross that off my list!

The only adult for a while, huh??? Nice! Don't do too much work, then! Crack open one of those books you've got gathering dust and put your feet up!

I'm having a lazy morning, trying to figure out how to edit a Word document when I don't have the Word program! Most of the firms I've been working for give me a template for the worksheet, etc., but I can't fill it in. Even with that free Open Office program. If you know the answer for me, please share. I don't think you have to mess with stuff like that, though.

It looks like another beautiful day here, although we've had lots of smoke from the almost-out fire still. Yesterday afternoon was the worst ever!

I'm picturing you taking an easy swim, maybe weeding in your garden for a bit - that's it! How's your shoulder after a week of work???

Yes, that pot. I just don't know. It sounds so GROOOOOSSSSSSSSSS.

It is! I've been using one for 15 years or more. It works, and that's the important thing!!!

Thanks for the bday wishes! I was truly surprised. We have not had TV since the switch to digital AND we have NEVER had cable, dish, HBO, et cetera. the only tv has been about a 13 inch with hmmm...four channels if i'm lucky. So I get home from school, terrible traffic on 99 in Sac, hot, tired, and walk in the back door fully loaded down with laptop, machine, and sh#% and low and behold staring me down from my kitchen eating area is a 42 inch BIG ASS flat screen plasma/lcd (not sure but who the hell cares!) tv with a great big bow on it! LIFES GREAT!!!! Football season here I come...yaaaaay.

Okay. Yes, I had a great bday. love ya

BTW ~ Trevor was stalling at school. he usually rushes me to leave as soon as possible, but not today! Stinker.

Thanks, Tami.

I did see that discussion on Depoman.

The first thing I did was go back to including my endings. That is automatic now. However, I do find myself coming back for too many -Gs. I am going to start using -DZ and learning to tuck -Gs and -Rs. I also recently learned the -NCH and -RCH/RSH endings, but what do you do in place of the -L?

I think it was a combination of overestimating the degree of perfection required for realtime and underestimating the CAT technology that was available at the time that corrupted my theory. When I started investigating short writing styles, I could actually see the vestigal substructure (SKP for "and"; final T for "the"; short-vowel pronouns -- eu/e/u. I always wondered why my theory brief for "interest" was SBR). So, in that respect, I am far better off than a student of your least favorite theory. It appears I have a solid foundation. Well, except for the whole thing about never having used an asterisk before! After I digest these changes and the phrasing concepts, I am going to have my machine serviced and add the wide keys. Then I can use the TD/SZ to utilize more phrasal endings and the * to fine tune the conflicts my software can't resolve.

Are you using short or long vowels in your short pronoun phrases like "in a," "with a," "is a," and "just a"? I'm guessing it has to be done with a short vowel because of conflicts. I have always written the article "a" with a long vowel; so that could be tough. Do you happen to have a handy list of short phrases?

Where did Clay go to school -- the speed building part, I mean. And exactly how many kids do you have? I can barely handle my two. My new mantra is "Nine more days until they go back to school; nine more days until they go back to school; nine more days until they go back to school . . . "

Hi, Tami.

Thank you for your suggestions. I really appreciate them. I learned theory at a bad time, as it was transitional. I was initially taught to include -D/-G/-Z; then at some point around 140, we were told all inflected endings had to be added with an additional stroke.

I recently found a challenge paragraph on another site. It was written with two different theories to highlight the stroke-intensiveness of your least favorite theory! I believe you actually participated later in that discussion. Anyway, I came in just two strokes behind the first example. I have a lot of tweaking to do. Looking at the glass half full, I actually made it to 225 writing like that! However, it does explain some things: I always got lits before Q & A's; I got a 240 lit before I could get a 225 Q & A; and my performance was unbelievably erratic, in that I could never regularly get a speed once I conquored it. This made me not enjoy writing as much as I think I could have. There was always fear or intimidation involved.

Thinking "half full" again, I WILL be able to shorten my writing, and I will still have that other skill to fall back on.

I intend to take this in small steps. It must appear like I am trying to do everything at once because I have so many questions. I felt the need to map out a masterplan before I begin so I don't end up creating little messes along the way.

I started with adding inflected endings onto the word. Then I took a single phrase (I don't) and started using it, practicing all kinds of right-hand endings with it. Once I am very comfortable with the endings, I will start adding more phrases.

I have never used an asterisk for anything but a "delete" key, and I do not have any wide keys on my writer. I think there is plenty for me to learn before I address those. We'll call that "Phase II." I plan to have my machine serviced before I start working. I will have it reconfigured then to open up some more possibilities.

I think another area of weakness, based on that single paragraph challenge, is my lack of simple two- and three-word phrases -- the common ones, not necessarily ones that you build upon.

Thanks again for your suggestions.

Hi, Tami.

No worries. I'm glad you get more days to rest since your shoulder has been acting up. I hope you feel better! Go to that Thai massage place that you were talking about! :)

Thank you for the offer to sit out with other court reporters in your courthouse. But Murrieta *is* a far drive, and I really wanted to sit out specifically with *you* -- you know, 'cause you're so AWESOME! :) So please count me out for now.

Maybe we can reschedule a few months from now when I have to do more observation/internship hours for a class requirement. I have other court reporters (closer to home) that I'll be able to sit out with in this month. So rain check? Please? :)

Since my boyfriend already took the day off work on Monday, we're going to spend the day babysitting his two adorable nieces instead... so it all works out! It's win-win everywhere! :)

Thanks for being so nice, Tami! Have a great weekend!

Hey Tami, it was a pleasure to cover your department. I love Kathy. Judge Rudloff is great! I really enjoyed working with him. I am surprised at the verdict. We all thought it would be a guilty on the lesser or hung. I guess I should learn not to be surprised when juries are involved! I am glad to hear that you got some time scheduled in your office. I really hope your shoulder feels better soon! I am very happy to be back in my department Monday. The last two weeks have been a great experience but I'm super happy to go home! Take care!

Hi, Tami. I am taking baby steps into your Magnum Steno Club. I just joined and will snoop around for awhile. I ordered a laptop today, and the software purchase is scheduled for Monday. The kids go back to school in 11 days. Then I may be able to handle joining Mark's site.

I noticed that you were interested in converting to Eclipse. I have a ten-year old DOS version that can still run circles around some of the competitors. If you convert, you will definitely be starting another fan club.

Hi, Tami! Well, we missed you this summer!! How did I do? Well, I didn't do at all. I sat out the contests this year and went to the Realtime Systems Administrator workshop which was running on the same days. The RSA was awesome! Well worth the time and money. They're running it again at Midyear in San Fran. You ought to check it out.

Thanks for the birthday wishes. Hope you're still doing great!

What a sweet note - thanks for perking me up! I just decided to stop being quite so hard on myself and let myself mail something that *should* go out today, go out on Monday. Nobody needs it now, I'm just putting all that pressure on myself for nothing. (Neurotic!)

Yes, check out the RollerMouse and Kinesis Freestyle keyboard. Ask Trina for her latest input. Take a swim - relax - and ...

complete CR body shutdown- Yes, that's what I've been trying to prevent for years!!!

How dare my massage therapist take a vacation now - I tried to make an appt. for today or tomorrow. She won't be back until Tuesday. She gave me some numbers of other therapists around, but I've been spoiled. Did another workout last night even though I was dragging. I know it did me good.

Tried out some sweatpants yesterday at Ross. So depressing to look in the mirror. Hips = size 16. Waist = size 12!!! Yes, I bought a pair for $10. And a thin workout T-shirt.

I'm overwhelmed with getting stuff out, though. I'm typing as I'm eating breakfast!

Hope your job went well yesterday!!!

Carley!!! I think she may have moved or something???? I have not seen around school in months. :( I'll have to add her too and catch up!

The last couple weeks have been crazy busy for me. Got that transcription job finished and got paid right away. (Yippee!) I must admit, that experience has me thinking about how cool it would be to become a CART provider one day. I would LOVE to always be in an educational setting.

Bailey is a little kindergarten rockstar. She's even taking the bus to school in the morning! I'm so proud of her. Can't imagine now why I was so worried. LOL

I've been working on transcript credits all day. I was so far behind from all the class I missed for vacation and Bailey's first few days of school. I did 6 today and have 2 more in progress right now. I have got to sit down and rework my schedule. I didn't realize how much kindergarten and soccer were going to cut into my practice time. I have takes turned into the lab for possible passes that I don't have time to sit and transcribe/correct. **sigh** I just know if I can get more organized, I'm going to see some results soon!

Have you gone back to work yet? How's the shoulder? When do your kids start school? OH YEAH!!!!! Checked out the pool pics above...O! M! G! That is the most spectacular backyard pool I've ever seen!

AND if my stomach doesn't stick out farther than my boobs, it's all good.

I've always had the same theory, but now that my boobs have shrunk to absolutely nothing, seriously not even bra-worthy, I figure my only hope now is to have a boob job!!

I was eavesdropping on Jenny's page. hmm, something else calorie burning. Wonder what that might be???

Miss you too, girl. My life these last weeks has been overwhelming, as usual. I am holding my breath and hoping to survive until Monday when my kids start school and I can finally exhale. I know I'm preaching to the choir, but this summer I have been pulled in 80 directions. Got one kid stressing about starting middle school and me stressing about my little baby starting kdg and then my trooper in the middle. How can my baby be leaving me? I am preparing myself for tears. He is my buddy and I will miss him.

I miss talking to you. Heading out the pool for a last few hours of summer with the kiddos.

Just reading some more. Do you and Jenny have an exercise commitment? I should join you. I am determined this year that Rachel starts middle school and has to catch the bus at 6:37 a.m. that I am going to head out with her and walk for an hour before the other kids have to be up. Hold me to it, will you, girls?

Ok, I really gotta run now. BYE!!
