I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the data backup site Carbonite.com. My computer geek friend recommended it, and I know it's very popular now.

I like having redundant backups, so I back up on my external 1TB backup drive as well DVDs. But I'd like to have an off-site storage place for not only steno files but also photos and music in case of fire.

I used to have one, but the Web site closed, and I lost all my files. They gave a month's notice to retrieve your files, but I was crazy busy during that time and had no time to download my 5 gazillion files. So I'm hesitant to trust another site, but this one is getting rave reviews. And it's cheap - only $55/yr.

We use Carbonite for backup but have never had to "retrieve" any files from them; so I don't really know how good they are with that. But the backup procedure is really easy. :-) It does take several days when you first start the backup, though; so don't be surprised!
I have it, Marla. Haven't had to use it, but it backs up my files daily and I don't even notice it!
I use it. Once in a while, I will go in and see what files they back up.

I like to see all the little green dots on all my files that are backed up.
