Has anyone been asked to email a CR software backup file of a depo to the CR firm so the firm can do production?  Don't CRs usually send a txt or pdf file for production?  This makes me think they are changing something on the transcript without my knowledge.   Has anyone come across this before?

I have never heard of that.  The firm could just as easily change the TXT file, though.
Agencies who use Catalyst and know that I do, too, ask for a Catalyst file.  I figure it's simpler for them to do the production.  Never was suspicious of funny business.

I wouldn't worry about it.  I think they print out much nicer looking in the CC software mode than .txt.  It's also much easier to make corrections if they notice something on the page when copying.  Some firms like to add their color title pages and print all transcripts that go out of the office with the same font.  Either way you really don't have final control anyway unless you send it directly to the attorney.
