Scopist Training

Hello everyone! After much consideration I've decided I'd like to become a scopist. I am still researching and have a few questions for those that are scopists.

Did you complete a scopist training program? If so which one?

What software do you use? And why did you choose that one?

I think that's about it, I'm just trying to make sure I make the best decisions and have as much information as possible.

Hi there!

I'm currently in training to become a scopist. I went with Scopist Careers International for my training, I really like it. It is all done with flash presentations and reading tests, its very comprehensive too, notes reading, english, marketing, medical terminology and the owner walks you through everything.

Hi Jen-

I also completed the course with Scoping Careers International. I think it was a great course and would serve you well.

I am on Eclipse because you can get a bit of a discount for the scoping version based on going through the SCI course. I later added digitalCAT to be able to work with a specific reporter.

Hi...A friend referred me to this post as I, too, have been considering scopist training...

I am presently a court reporting student, and need to earn money prior to graduation. Since I go to school full-time, a home-based position (and especially one directly related to court reporting) would be ideal for me.

Would those of you who are graduates of the SCI program recommend it for a court reporting student? (i.e., would trying to study scoping while also studying court reporting be too difficult?) I should say that I am working only on speedbuilding at this point as I have completed necessary academic courses.
