Unlock the Secrets of your Case CATalyst CD

Hi Gang! Do you think that all that is on your Case CATalyst CD is just the program itself? Well, think again.

First, you put your Version 9 or 10 CD into your computer and let it open up to the welcome screen. The fourth icon down allows you to explore the contents of the CD. Click on that icon and you will now see the contents of the CD. Before that you will see that following:

First, on your CD is a copy of CaseView II which is the least sophisticated, but still very useful, version of CaseView Net which is great in a pinch if an attorney needs a realtime viewer. Then there's CaseView Net which is an awesome product and I suggest you check it out.

Now, after clicking on the "View Contents of your CD," you will see:

A file labeled: "Case CATalyst Self-Study Guides." These guides are in PDF format and can be printed out for your use. There's the Fields SSG (Self-Study Guide), the Number Converions SSG, the Automatic Indexing SSG, and so many more.

Also, there are the Case CATAlyst Exceptional Extras. These also contain Self-Study Guides on how to use these and there are contained keyboard maps, macros, and AccelerWriters which are realtime macros that are executable from your writer.

I'm sure many of you know that these are on your CD but as a certified trainer, I find that many users don't. Enjoy.

You're wonderful! I actually found the files you mentioned a while back, but just this weekend I decided to learn a few Extra AccelerWriters. I have the strokes in front of me. So in between doing my Sudoku puzzles, I'm trying to reinforce the AccelerWriters.

Thanks so much for this message. GREAT pointers. I've been really frustrated to think that we have indexing capability, but it's so difficult to set up it's recommended we pay someone else to set it up. Hopefully this will give me some guidance. I think we're all so busy with our jobs we don't take the time to do the little intricacies that would make our life much easier.

Hi Patricia, I hope you find the Self-study Guides helpful; however, if you find yourself really stuck, don't be afraid to hire a Stenograph Certified Trainer. The time saved by engaging the services of a trainer and learning from them will help you earn more money in saved transcript production time later.

Automatic Indexing can be tricky, and depending on your indexing needs, really tricky, so read all the information slowly and take your time.

Thanks Anthony. I'll be sure to check my CD again. One of the things I would love to see is several transcripts that a Scopist can do from start to finish as an exercise. I'm not a reporter. I just completed my legal transcription course. I'm new to this business and to be honest with you concerned when a reporter says her career is on the line if you screw up. I transcribe focus group tapes now verbatim and I have worked in law offices but you still don't get the experience with going through a prompted training program. Any thoughts.

Hi Laurie, I'm a Federal Official Court Reporter in Brooklyn, New York. I've been a reporter for 15 years now. I do the Case CATalyst training as a side gig, but I truly enjoy educating reporters on how to use their software more effectively. I train in the New York-New Jersey area, but I've gone as far as Bucks County, Pennsylvania. I do group trainings also from as small as three to as large as 100.
