Hello, I'm Laurie.  I am a busy realtime reporter and I have an immediate opening for a proofreader.  I have only worked with two proofreaders in the past 22 years; one retired and my last proofreader is now my scopist.  So I am looking for a proofreader that I will be working with for the long-term.  I work only on DigitalCat and my proofreader must be proficient using that software.  I take a wide assortment of cases from nontechnical to highly technical.  Attention to detail, reliability and accuracy are all musts when it comes to my transcripts.  I am easy to work with and value my scopists and proofreaders immensely.  I look forward to speaking with you if you would like to apply for this position to work with my team.  :0)

Old-fashioned transcript proofreader with more than 20 years' experience is available to a court reporter that needs help with work overflow (I currently work for two West Coast reporters, but not getting enough consistently steady work). Experienced in regular, same-day and next-day turnarounds (depositions and trials, but have recently concentrated primarily upon accident or injury depositions).  Industry experience includes pharmaceutical, construction, LAOSD asbestos cases, Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation and federal cases (SSA, US Tax Court, and DOJ).  I proof from PDF or Notepad files, perform online research for verification and quality assurance, maintain running word lists for each case, and provide simple errata sheets of corrections and queries.

Rates (for 25 lines) are:  .75 per page for expedites & real-time – ASAP & same-day turnaround; .60 per page for rush jobs – 24 hours; .50 per page for regular or standard jobs – 48+ hours; and there is no additional charge for weekends. Zelle direct deposit is my preferred payment, but I also use Venmo, Google Pay and PayPal.  If interested, please contact pascribe721@gmail.com. I am proficient in using Stenograph Case CATalyst 21, including RealTeam, and have been proofreading since November 2002. My background is in the medical and legal fields, and I once managed a busy California court reporting agency. I also proofread using Stenovations digitalCAT.

Not to toot my own horn, but I was the sole proofreader in USA v. Paul J. Manafort, Jr. criminal trial (Alexandria, VA, Aug 2018) - 2,500+ pages.

My standard page rate is .40 for most depositions, while court transcripts start at .45. RealTeam is $1.00 per page. I generally invoice weekly and accept numerous forms of payment.

My work environment is a secluded room that serves as my home office so that I have minimal distractions.

Regular turnaround is approximately 3 to 4 calendar days, sooner during slow periods.

I am a Case CATalyst and PDF proofreader.  In Case CAT I use Scanstops, Hidden Keys and Track Changes to make corrections so that you are completely in control of your transcript.  I use iAnnotate for PDF proofing, making annotations above your text so nothing is ever changed in your transcripts.
