I was adopted. Some might look at being adopted as an unfortunate happening in one's life, but, in my circumstance at birth, it was the best thing that could ever have happened to me. I grew up with a loving family who gave me every opportunity to be somebody, and my parents really did love me. I will always consider my adopted parents as my parents.
I did get to meet my birth mother years ago, and I have two older brothers and an older sister. I have never met my birth father.
I am very close to one brother today, but I did not get to know him well until I was in my thirties.
On AOL this morning, I read an article and watched a short 3-minute video clip of a lady who met her birth mother for the first time in 50-plus years. Her birth mother got pregnant at 20 and was living at home with her parents and couldn't take care of a baby, and so she gave her up for adoption. Neither of them have seen each other for all those years, until now.
OMG, I cried so hard watching this video, but they were happy tears. I thought I'd share it with you:
After 50 Years, Mother and Daughter Reunite"
There are some things worth so much more than money, and that's family!
