Anti-Virus Software--What are you using?

I wanted to get a consensus on what folks are using out there.

It seems there are some Anti-Virus software programs that disrupt or slow down my Eclipse.

What have you found to be effective without slowing down your other programs?

Thanks for your input!

I've used Norton Internet Security for the past three years and it covers malware, spyware, viruses. It is not a hog on my computer either like it used to be.  But there prices has gone up every year so I'm considering something else.  I think it's around $80 to load it on up to 3 computers and they do have free decent phone support.

I use ESET.  VERY happy with them.  It was recommended to me by my tech guru who saved me from a "blue screen" situation.  He said it puts much less of a load on the computer as compared to Norton and McAfee.  I've been very happy with ESET.  They are in San Diego.  You can call them and speak to a REAL LIVE person, no charge, as opposed to the annoying online help menu "help" you get with the big antivirus vendors.  The ESET folks are super helpful.  And no overseas call center to deal with.  Highly recommended.

Lisa, one thing I changed in my avast settings was it's set to check for updates like every hour or something when you install it, which I found it kind of slowing down some things(but not my Eclipse) anyway, I changed the setting to check for updates every few days instead and that helped a lot.

Lisa, if you don't get online when your working in depositions, don't know if you need the anti-virus software.  I've never used it for over a decade.  If you do get online, you do probably need to do something.  I've started to get a bit nervous.

Thanks to both of you for your input, I have tried Avast in the past, and while it didn't interfere with Eclipse, it did with other programs, but still I may try it again.

That's actually good to know.  I don't run any anti-virus software on my Eclipse laptop I take out in the field because it has in the past locked my computer.  I have not had any anti-virus software on my computer for about 13 years now.  Maybe I'll try the Avast free version.

I use the free version of Avast with my Eclipse and no problems
