Ok. My computer crashed last week. The tech had to erase my entire hard-drive. He was SUPPOSED to do my personal dictionary but I have searched everywhere and it is not here! Even simple things like THE COURT: are not in there! I cannot possibly test like this!!! Is there a way that someone can copy theirs and send it to someone? Please help me, I will try ANYTHING!!!!

Sorry for all that you're going through.

Which CAT software do you use? I think I might have a Phoenix dictionary on CD that I got from Stenograph when I bought my software. I am a StenEd writer and have no use for it. I will dig it out of my office and send it to you if you are interested. (I have no idea if it only works with CaseCAT or not, but it's worth a try; right?) PM me with your address if you are interested.

I know these are questions you have probably already been asked or asked.

Did the tech guy back up your hard drive at all?
Do you have any kind of online backup?

Do you ever keep backups of your files somewhere else? Could you possibly have backed up the job dictionaries somewhere other than your where your main dictionary is? You can maybe rebuild part of your dictionary from your job dictionary?

What kind of writer do you have? Did you ever load your dictionary onto your writer?

I ~think~ they could save their dictionary as a separate file and e-mail it to you. Then you would copy their dictionary into your CAT system. It won't have all of your nuances, but at least (hopefully) THE COURT: will tran correctly. Do you have one school friend that you've been making the same kind of entries into your dictionaries? I know, seems rather simplistic, but at least it will get you started.

I do feel your pain, really.

I do have classmates but how would I be able to use their dictionary...would they have to put it on disc for me? Like they back theirs up and give it to me to install?

Do you have anybody that you went to school with that learned the same theory that you can at least build from theirs?
