If they need an RPR, you don't have to continue with school for that. You know your Theory, so you might want to check out SImplySteno.com and ask about how you can get to the RPR. It's not a school, but a program, and its only intent is to prepare you for the RPR. You have school everyday, graded tests, and quick feedback. I'm not there, but I know someone who is, and she loves it.

Stephanie,
You can contact Nancy Davis, Executive Director of Illinois Court Reporters
Assn., at 800-656-2467 or at ilcraoffice@aol.com. I'm sure she can answer
any of your questions.

The CSR exam in Illinois is a written test, 200 general dictation, 225 Q & A. Illinois will grant reciprocity if you have the RPR. The general dictation is supposed to be a cross between a literary and legal opinion. I really can't remember the subject matter or density since I passed it 21 years ago.

As far as the school curriculum, I know there's a couple schools in the area to choose from. The school I went to has since closed. Again, it's been over 20 years since I was in school, so I wouldn't be able to speak about the exact class curriculum.
