What's the furthest you've driven?

Well, times are slow for some of us and gas is high. Although it has come down a little bit. Just a smidge.

But what's the furthest you've driven for a depo? Timewise? Mileagewise?

I used to try to keep it around 30 miles, but I think I"ll have to bump it up to 40. Bleh. And that could end up being anywhere from and hour to two hours depending on traffic. Double Bleh.

When I first started, I drove to Palm Springs once for a depo. That was over a hundred miles one way. Not too bad bec. it was against traffic. I try not to do that anymore. I've driven to San Diego which is like over 85 miles away. Fun!!! Not!!!

What's the furthest you've driven for the shortest depo you've ever had?

Really, huh! Actaully I haven't been there in quite awhile, but was just using that as a great example. I've got a couple in LA coming up. I'm sure you aren't interested in those!!! =)~
And you too, how about your OC stuff? You know you can feel free to contact me at any time for those. I've done one job for you, if you remember, in Brea, I think it was. Although, I'm just about done with working for awhile....getting ready to have my baby. I've got about four weeks left, but I am sooooo uncomfortable, and my blood pressure is being affected more and more the closer I get. Doc even had to raise my dosage. But if you or anyone else has telephonic depos or scoping on Stenocat32, I'm available!!

Hey, Mary, send those San Diego jobs my way and then I'd have to drive only 35 miles!

From where I live, a "local" job is 35-50 miles round trip easy, so I'm just used to it, but if I go beyond that, I get reimbursed mileage. But as long as it's not LA, I don't mind driving at all. I think us depo reporters get spoiled sometimes because in reality, we could be stuck in an office 9-5, but instead we're getting out, enjoying the day, listening to a great CD, open the sunroof and we're off. You have to look at the bright side of it. And so use the example, if I go to San Diego, it's a beautiful drive, about 160 miles round trip, even if it's a no-show or affidavit or five pages, depending on what you get paid, you're talking $150 to $175 range, plus mileage, about $75, so $250 AND have NO transcript to do, which means no paying a scopist if you use one, it takes me an hour 15 to hour and a half to get there, so three hours round trip. So let's say four hours total time on this job that you make $250 on and you got to be out and enjoy your day. Not too shabby I have to say for doing nothing but driving down the 5 and along the pretty coast!

I've been doing a CART job this semester that is 2 miles from my house. I sure don't miss traffic.

90 miles each way for just a workers' comp, but they paid mileage and an appearance fee. It was also a beautiful drive in the opposite direction of traffic.

When I lived in Minnesota, I drove 180 miles (each way) based on the depo firm's desperation and a promise that there were going to be 5-7 attorneys who were going to order copies, and it was going to last all day. It turned out to be a videoconference that lasted 35 minutes. How about that for bait and switch?

What the farthest?

Oh, man, I drive 75 miles one way all the time. I went to Austraila, Mexico and New York, but I guess that doesn't count, huh? Just last year I drove 150 miles (one way) for an all-dayer.

But the farthest for the shortest? I've definitely gone 100 miles for a minimum.

UFL, it's one of the evils of the business we're in.
