Thanks, Gwen,

The orphanage was south of Kursk. Kursk is a seven-hour train ride from Moscow. I went with a friend who is in a Methodist group in Ohio that go every year. My purpose in going was to be with the kids. We had arts and craft classes, science projects, they dazzled us with their talents and art work. Singing and dancing. We taught them the hokie poke, electric slide, chicken dance, elctric slide. We hung out with the children every day long ,almost all day long. Leaving was pretty emotional for them and us. My friend went on to St. Petersburgh and she loved it. I had to get back and go to SF with my husband. I hope to do it again.

What a tremendous thing to do. These young people are beautiful. I went to St. Petersburg in 2002 with a youth group, and found the people to be appreciative of any kindness shown them -- and a bit surprised too. Where was the orphanage? What did you do there?
