Does anyone know how to listen to live audio through laptop??

Hello. I have upgraded to Vista from XP; and on XP, I used to be able to listen to live audio through my headphones and AudioSync mic while writing realtime in my CAT system (CaseCatalyst). Unfortunately, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do this with Vista. Does anyone know how to do this? If so, please help!! Thanks!

are you talking about listening to the amplified sound of audio as it's being recorded through the mic? If so, that's exactly what I used to do under XP, but under Vista they did away with that option. If I'm mistaken, please someone correct me, because I'd love to be able to utilize that feature if it's available in Vista. Believe me, I asked the same question many times but got no answer. The next best thing to do is to get an Olympus Digital Recorder and listen to the audio with your headset as it's being recorded. The sound is amplified, the same as it is under XP. I hope it helps.

I don't have Vista but I don't think that's the issue, it's a laptop audio card thing. I always had to go in and change my registry on my Dells to allow the microphone settings to appear in the volume controls so I could unmute it. Unfortunately with my new Acer this is not possible. So I just put a little adapter into my mic jack with the audio in cable coming out of the videographer's mixer and my headphones in the same adapter to listen live. works fine.

Try this first, plug in your headphones and try to play a song via itunes or windows media player... or go to youtube and play a random video, can you hear it?

if you cant, check your audio settings in vista by double clicking the little audio icon on the bottom right and make sure that your line out or headphones is not muted.

If you can hear it, then you need to look at your cats system.. i would say calling them would be best.
