a reporter who doesn't pay their proofreader

How can I go about alerting proofreaders on here to a court reporter who doesn't pay so that they don't get stiffed?   Also, any ideas on how to make this disgusting, unprofessional reporter pay up?

  Is this the reporter whose name you don't know?  Sounds like a strange story to me.

No, Mary, of course, I know the reporter's name who isn't paying.

Go to the proofreader group, send out an email blast to everyone in the group and mention the name of the reporter so they know to stay away!!  Simple as that.

That is so wrong.  Even if the reporter does not get paid, they should

That's ridiculous.  I can't imagine not paying my proofer or scoper.  I've been screwed by agencies, but I always pay them within a week of getting the bill.

Betsee, actually, that's not who I'm talking about here in this instance.  However, I did reporting work for that person and had to fight like never before to FINALLY get paid.  I understand there's a ton of reporters/proofreaders/videographers, etc. out there who have not been paid......and unfortunately for them, never will.  That person definitely should be put out of business and stop victimizing the aforementioned groups.

Betsee, whatever you do, don't give up.  However, I've known a lot of people who got bilked by her and there's no way to get the money that's due you.  If you want to talk about this, send me a note.

Good for you!  I had to do that with an agency.  I actually called the attys she claimed hadn't paid yet (in March for a job the previous August) and they told me they had paid in December.  I got my money.

If you got the work from this reporter through this website, please let me know this and who it is.  I'll delete them from the website.  I don't want unethical people on here taking advantage of others.  That won't fly!!

Maybe the solution is to take that person to court. It's very sad when things like this happen and it bothers me when hard working people don't get paid for their efforts.
