ROSES_MAY_2012

I just cut these from my rose garden minutes ago. The soft pink rose is Billy Graham. The dark pink is Perfume Delight. The white rose that has a touch of pink is called Moonstone.

Question for California Reporters on "marking" a portion of a transcript

I have had a California attorney say on the record, "I want that marked." I would appreciate input from any California reporters. Do you just indicate it on your index page? It wasn't a question. It was actually a little dust-up between the attorneys. Please give me your advice.
Thanks,
Janiece

Advice on preparing for the Realtime Exam

Hey, Everybody,
I am thinking about taking the Realtime Exam. I've been supplying realtime. I would appreciate any tips anyone who has taken it can give me, any things I need to do before I go and take the exam. I'm assuming, fix problems that you find in your dictionary. Any input you all have to give would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Janiece

"BRIEF IT" I like it.

Hey, Everybody,

I just recently got updated to 10.3 on Case CATalyst. One of the new features is "Brief it." I used it today and I really think I'm going to like it. The software watches what's going on in the transcript and comes up w/ some one-stroke briefs for you as you are writing along. Some of them are kind of whacky but I chose to use a couple of them and it really helped me out. I found out my hands really held up a lot better b/c I was able to use one strokes for certain… Continue

HELP!!! INTERNET STREAMING SIMLTANEOUSLY W/ PROVIDING REALTIME

Monday (3/16) I am going to cover my first internet streaming job. I have done realtime for attorneys many times. On this job they would like internet streaming simultaneously w/ realtime for the attorneys who are actually in the room. We can get the internet streaming to work but can't seem to get the realtime to work so far. Any tips, thoughts, ideas?
Thanks,
Janiece

Hey, Janiece, like I said, I'm sitll confused about this site, so I'm trying to visit it once a day when I have the time.  I looked under "Chat" and saw that Kelly Combs made a mention of the court reporting site closing after the first of the year.  Do you know what she means?  I really enjoy posting questions and seeing the repsonses to them.  Let me know what you know.

Thanks bunches,

Hi, Janiece,

This is so foreign to me, so forgive me if I look crazy on this site.  Hopefully I'll figure it out quickly.  I like it, though.  I left a question yesterday, and got some responses.  I left one today, so I'll see what happens.  But as far as forums, groups, blogs, that's confusing to me still.

Hey, Janiece

Thought I would send you a message from the site so you could see there is not a problem this morning.  Maybe on your end.

Me too.  I just have to really make a conscious effort to try to hit the asterisk key, and that's a royal pain, because when the testimony is fast, well, I just misstroked.  Other than this issue, the writer is great.  I love the light touch, and I can write all day and pretty much not tire at all.

Hi, Janiece.  I didn't want to clutter up that group with chatter, so I will respond to your writer question here.  I don't know if you saw the photo I posted in my discussion about the writer, but my sales guy said he would talk to their development team and see if they could make me a double-wide asterisk.  I said that would just make the key wider to the left, which would not resolve the issue.  He said he's looking into if they could make it double-wide to the right and not interfere with other stuff.  I suggested the put the wide -DZ keys as my -FR keys, but he didn't say anything about that.  He said he'll contact me when he finds out.  I'm still waiting to hear back from them.  In the meantime, the loaner is still sitting in its box.  I can't use it anyway; it doesn't have keypads!  :(

Hi, Janiece. Court reporting is hard enough, but add in realtime, fast speakers, technical material, witnesses with accents, lack of respect for the difficulty of what we do ... it's a wonder some reporters don't walk off the job mid-sentence! Thanks for listening to my vents, dear. Stay warm! Mary Ann

Hi, Janiece -
it's a program that is "sponsored" by NCRA. I think you can get a "test drive" to try it out.
