I'm on Case 10, Windows Vista.  I was working and all of a sudden out of nowhere, the program just shut down.  I'm able to open it right back up again.  But it has done this intermittently for a few days.  I did a system restore, but it doesn't seem to have helped the problem.  Also bought and installed Norton Antivirus.  Ran the Norton, but Case was still doing the same thing.  Anyone have any ideas?  Thanks so much for any suggestions.

This is why I never don't pay for the support contract.  Plus getting updates is an excellent side benefit of that support contract.  I have nothing to offer other than call SG tech support.    Good luck.

Seems like it must be a problem with your computer rather than CC, if CC has been working fine on that computer previously.  You could have a virus that has corrupted a program or something is wrong with your hardware on your computer

I agree.  I think you may have picked up a virus.

Is it shutting down when you are at an actual job and writing the testimony or shutting down while editing transcript?   If it's happening while you are at a job, and you use cables, you probably have a short in your cable.

Rosalie, it's while I'm editing.  And Martha and Janiece, I'm exploring and trying to fix any kind of virus angle.  But Case seems to be the only program that it affects, if that's what it is.  Strange.  Which may be that it's a USB issue??  But I've tried switching the key to other ports and it's the same thing.  And in Control Panel, it tells me they're all running fine.  Who knows??

Reminds me I need to call Stenograph too.  I have latest version of CC and run Windows 7 and I have been having problems very intermittently over the last month.  There is no way to pin down what is going wrong.  I think it may be a virus too.  Do you have JAVA on that computer?   There was something on the radio and internet that Oracle was shutting down certain versions of JAVA because bad guys are spreading malicious malware into your computer through JAVA.  That explains why my virus software did not want to let me run JAVA, but I still don't know what's wrong with CC.   Two days ago while editing, it started acting funny, then when I quit out of job and went into Manage Jobs, the screen was blue and there were black stripes alternating the cases I had listed.  Very scary!   I turned everything off, then back on, and things were fine; but I made sure to run a backup right after that.

you might be on to something with the Java.  Every time I start up my computer wants to run a Java update and I always cancel it.  But after running a different anti-virus on the computer just now, it seems like there might be some fishy .js files.  The program can't auto delete them, it says they're password protected.  Now I just have to figure out how to manually do that and see where it takes me...

You might try the Kim Kommando site.  I had malware and downloaded a program from her and it solved the problem.  It was free.

Thanks.  it's worth a try.
