Okay, I need some recommendations.  I have used primarily the $150 little Martel Electronics mic that Stenograph also sells for years.  What other comparable mics are there for under $200 other than the USB mics.  I'm not crazy about the USB mic sound quality, even the ones sole by

Sound Professionals, unless there's something new.  I'd just rather not rely on a USB port to be working properly.  Rather plug a mic into the mic jack on the computer.

The one Kelli bought for $98.00 is $30.00 cheaper on another website.  You can buy the 3.5 version on Amazon for about $45.00.  The USB version has the daisy connection - and (I think) that is what makes it more expensive.  If you are going to use your mic connection on your laptop, the $45.00 mic is a better buy.

I bought the conference grabber ($60) with the 3.5 for my little recorder.  I am going to buy the Sound Tech 3.5 for $45.00.

I have to practice with the setup.  I will let you know how my cheapness works.

There is a difference between the cheap CM 1000 ($45.00) and the one Kelli bought.  The USB version:

  • Designed to provide unparalleled sound delivery. The on board USB Sound card provides constant high quality digital audio.
