I got a Stenoram II several years ago and use the Iogear USB for it.  it works fine.

I got a brand new MeritWriter (very old, never used, probably a student bought, quit, and put under the bed).  I want to try the writer, so I am going to buy a Keyspan adapter for it.

Quick question:

I saw on one of the forums (which I can't find) someone had a Stentura 800 and was looking to buy an adapter for it.

I thought all the newer writers were automatically computer ready, just needed the realtime cable.

Is that incorrect?

Stentura 800 is not a "newer" machine.  The problem here is that the computer probably does not have serial port.  So you need a usb-to-serial adapter or Expresscard-to-serial adapter.
