I'd like to know everyone's thoughts on payment from firms.

Most firms I work with guarantee payment on original and copies in a maximum of 60 days.   But just a few won't guarantee payment on copies until they get paid and when it's going on 90 and 120 days out,I think that's too long to have to wait, but just wondered what others thought.  I don't know if they are not aggressive enough on collections or what.  But don't insurance companies pay court reporter bills within 90 days at least usually?

Well, if insurance companies are paying up front, then I do have a couple of firms with outstanding invoices over 90 days and I am pretty sure insurance companies are involved in paying the bills, but the CR agencies say they still have not been paid.  They always paid me in the past up front on copies, but not the past year.  Thanks for the feedback Quyen.

I am paid in 90 days for O and copies. Used to be less time but agency is having trouble getting paid.

I have two court reporting firms I have recently started working for that pay the O&1 right away and I have to wait for copy payment.  I'm giving it a try.

I have one local firm I do overload for and I have to wait until she gets paid to get paid.  Some of her customers pay really fast, like within two weeks.  There was one attorney I had to wait six months to get paid.  He had split the original costs with the other taking attorney so that was kind of painful to wait for.  I was slow back then.  It seems that always happens when you need the money. :-(  She will always pay me.  She is my friend so I am willing to do that for her.

In the Kansas City area, I've NEVER worked with a firm that didn't pay ALL O & copies at the same time.  And I probably never would, just because as a single mom, I HAVE to have my money.  Sorry, but my kids think they are entitled to eat.  LOL

How dare they! Who could afford such luxury as a meal? ;)
