The College of Court Reporting...any comments or complaints?

I posted a couple of weeks ago about looking into schools for court reporting.  I received a lot of really good advice, and one person, Glen Warner, suggested The College of Court Reporting.  I was just wondering if anyone else had any comments on this school?  I contacted the school to get some additional information and looked on their website, but I was just curious about talking to people that have actually gone to this school.

Hi April, I have nothing but positive reviews about College of Court Reporting.  I went to Bryan originally and was extremely dissatisfied with their school.  I transferred to CCR and it has been amazing.  The staff and technology are unbeatable and they really have results.  They were a little pricier than Byran but not by much (they all seem too expensive), but it is well worth it.  I am so happy to have switched.  They are really a fabulous school and will make sure you are taken care of.  I think it is bar none the best one out there.  I also looked into several other schools and found they were not accredited or unable to work with my schedule.

They DEFINITELY have a good reputation, and I work with someone attending that school. They're enjoying it. I've also spoken to another random student that went there and they enjoyed it as well, made it out in 3 years.

I guess the one complaint I've heard would be price-point, but unless you attend a community college then you're stuck paying that type of price.

I wish I would have just started at CCR instead of the college I did, if that's worth anything.

Oh thank you both so much.  I have been very apprehensive to start school without knowing the quality of education that I will receive.  I am already paying back student loans from paralegal school and I can't afford to waste my time and money again on a school that will not allow me to receive the type of quality education that will I am so excited and nervous.  I really want to get into this field but I am worried because it looks to hard and complicated.

It's hands down the best court reporting school out there. The instructors are caring, professional and go above and beyond. As for their technology it's by far the best.

Positive reinforcement I think, is crucial while going through school. Everyone I have been in contact there has always been very positive and extremely helpful. Don't waste your time and money anywhere else.

I am second sem student there and Glenn was in one of my last classes. Thus far, I love my school. Glenn’s brain has a plethora of information in it., I've been reading his blog for a long time now. He really knows what he's talking about.

Goodness I'm glad I found this post! Tina I didn't know you switched schools! I have wondered about you!

Well, I am still an online student and I just had a virtual meeting last night with a lady at CCR's admissions office. I am so scared to leave where I am for a few reasons, I would love to hear y'alls advice. I'll take all the help I can get!

My school is on a quarter system and CCR is on semesters, so when my qtr ends Dec 15th I would have to wait until Feb before I could start at CCR. I'm not sure what this would do to my financial aid, not to mention what it would do to my progress! I'm currently at 120wpm. However, CCR sounds like they have an extremely supportive and motivating staff.....my teacher just abruptly quit during our qtr! I don't even have an instructor now!

The thing that scares me most about transferring (other than the higher tuition), is the amount of time you're expected to be on your machine a week, they told me 18-20 hours a week...

What do yall think?

I'd say investigate what your state certification requirements are before committing to CCR.  There are many cheaper alternatives out there that can offer the same quality of education.  If your state requires a CSR, you would have to pay 13k a year to attend CCR just to build the speed in order to obtain your RPR before you were qualified to take the CSR.  SimplySteno is a great alternative at a fraction of the cost.
