Welcome to CSR Nation
Sittin' by that phone, twiddling your thumbs as the crickets are loudly chirping away? Maybe it was the shower you decided to skip to take that last-minute emergency depo blast that went out on CSR Nation. Is it the bad haircut you just got? Or maybe your breath stinks. If you're wondering if anyone else is in the same boat, join this group and just ask! :D

I don't know what's been going on in the NY metro area, but you can't even get arrested. Last week I had two cancellations and one job that actually went. This week so far nothing. Not that it was great before that. Add to that the fact that some agencies use reporters as a source of passive financing, and hold off paying us for 50 or 60 days, and it's becoming impossible to make a living and to sustain oneself. This used to be a lucrative profession! Someone may be getting jobs, but it sure isn't me lately. It's not funny at all.
Is anyone else in SoCal really slow the past month?
ugg...this is about my third week in a row now of being pretty slow. Is anybody else slow at this time of the year? I'm hoping it's just because the schools have just started going back, and it'll start to pick up real soon!
Erin, I don't know if Central Florida is busy, but I am in South Florida and I have been SLAMMED all year. I know Florida has a bad rap, and, yes, you probably should get your money upfront from attorneys from Florida, and, yes, not everything is written up. What is not written up, we charge a bit more for attendance. What is not written up, a majority of it is back-ordered and they want it expedited, overnight or immediate. The agency I work for is currently DESPERATELY looking for qualified reporters to cover West Palm & Miami. I have never had a problem getting paid. The agency is reporter owned, not "corporate." Florida does not require certification, but if you are an RPR or RMR or realtime, you are a commodity here and there is work to be had. I'm happy to answer any questions. :D
ugg..spoke to soon about being busy. I haven't had a job at all this week, but then again, school started this week. I'm praying it picks up again starting next week!
Erin, please check with some Florida reporters but my experience with Florida attorneys is things are not typed up until right before trial. I have had difficulty getting paid by Florida attorneys.
Does anybody know if Central Florida is busy? Might be moving.
Okay, where in the country is the best place to report with the least tort reform, certification IS required and stays steady busy? Because it's not Denver this year. I have friends in other states who have been overall slower this year, but not as slow as Denver.
Yeah, cases are settling quicker, Kerry. People need money now just to survive, instead of waiting on possibility of more money later. Hope it picks up, or we're gonna lose a lot of good reporters for same reason, they need it to survive.
Well, it seems that more cases are settling than normal. You know, we always say it always picks up. I sure hope it does this year because it's been such a strange year so far.
