Hi,

I am a proofreader. Previously, the contract I am working on sent me ECL files and allowed me to edit in MS Word. I preferred this because I had a long list of macros to match the contract's style guide. These were in one file, and I executed it with one click. Now I am required to use Eclipse. I read through the documentation and looked at the visualizer, but I am still confused. It seems you need to be on the word that you want to edit in order to call up and execute the macro. I want to be able to execute a group of macros and have it scan the entire document and make the corrections. For example, the style guide says "timeline" should be "time line", I don't want to wait to come across this mistake to correct it.

Is this possible with Eclipse?

Thank you!

Debbie, you will want to global timeline to make it time line.  If you are on Version 5 with hyperkeys turned put your cursor on the t for timeline and hit the letter g.  That will global it.  And then you type time line in the space and then hit Alt j to put it in the job dictionary.

When I enter the letter g, I get this message "There is no steno tracking for that text."

If you are in hyperkeys, it would be a plain g.  If not, it's Ctrl g.  But I think a find and replace would work the best, like Kelli says.  I know I often write one word several different ways.  What version are you on?

I am in version 5. I did use the plain g to get that message.

I won't really need to do anything more complicated than find and replace. I just have many things to replace, so it would waste a lot of time to do this for the whole list. How can I get around this? And how could I have this apply to any file, not just one specific one?

You can also do a find and replace for time line.  Hit F in hyperkeys and type timeline in the first box, hit ALT R to put your cursor in the lower box and type in what you want to change it to, time line and then hit enter.  It will ask you if you want to replace all and you hit yes.  I find that easier than globaling because it could have been written different ways and the global won't always catch them all.
