Eclipse Version 5 Users

This group is for Version 5 users to share what aspects of Version 5 they are using and why.....as well as requests for help as problems arise using Version 5.

I just downloaded Version 5 (a year after it came out), and I feel like I'm learning Eclipse all over again.

Would greatly appreciate input from other Version 5 users.

Kelli, I was getting speakers from long-ago jobs in current jobs.  I checked my main dictionary, assuming I accidentally put them there, but no.  Anyway, I called, and there had been some issue with some prior version and updating alone wasn't enough.

The tech walked me through some procedure where I created new versions of all of my unfinished jobs and then made some guided changes to the speaker tables.  It fixed it right away.  It sounds like you have the same ghost in your speaker table.  If they don't know what you're talking about, have them open my file and look at my last support call.

I've been doing it the same way for 10 years and never had a problem till V5.  I guess I'll call on it tomorrow and see what tech support has to say.

that just doesn't sound right.  Are you putting them on the correct side?  On the left?

No, changing speaker IDs is before the job even starts.  I think Joe Schmoe is going to sit on the right side of the table and I set him up for the right side and then he switches and sits on the left side.  When I go in to F2 for speakers and hit "change" and put in the attorney's name that I want there, it won't change it to the new name; it keeps the name I had before.  Version 4 never, ever did that.  I've had to learn to wait till everyone sits down and hope I have enough time to put in all names before we start on the record.

I am running .27 and those are issues I have that I didn't have with Version 4.  I wish they'd fix them because they are annoying.  Especially I do so much RT, I don't want words that are obviously capped to come up not capped, i.e. november, canada, april, etc.  There is never a time when these words are not capped.  Hello!

So frustrating.

You can change speaker IDs.  Just tell it "from this point forward" when you change it so that it doesn't change any speaker IDs above the cursor.

Kelli, what version of 5 are you running now?  The latest version is 5.0.0.27.

There are two things I don't like about Version 5:  Using the AutoBrief feature, it will give you suggestions for words that will ALWAYS be capped but it won't cap them.  Like colorado, which will always be capped but not using the auto brief.  It does this with lots of words.  Very frustrating.  It sees I'm writing it and it's capped, but it won't cap it in the suggestion strokes.

Also, I'll put in the speaker names before the job will start but maybe someone will sit somewhere I wasn't anticipating.  I want to change the speaker identification because I put them in depending where people sit.  Version 5 won't let you change the speaker settings.  Version 4 would let me change them any time without a problem.  Very, very frustrating.
