Welcome to CSR Nation
This group is for Version 5 users to share what aspects of Version 5 they are using and why.....as well as requests for help as problems arise using Version 5.
I just downloaded Version 5 (a year after it came out), and I feel like I'm learning Eclipse all over again.
Would greatly appreciate input from other Version 5 users.

Timekeeper in Version 5 is the same as Version 4. For those new to using it, here are some tips.
Open up the file. Choose Tools, Timekeeper.
The first window that opens up is Volumes. I have "all" listed here.
On the second window I have "current document."
On the next window I have 1,2,3,4,5, 6......then 10 and 11 selected.
The next window is the actual report with the times for each attorney listed.
***An important thing to remember is that the timekeeper uses the bylines to calculate who is questioning. So when an atty starts examining, be sure you use an actual "byline."
Bylines are inserted by using F8, then choosing B. If you use just a regular line here and not a byline, the timekeeper will not count it.
Also on your blocks for Direct Exam, Cross Exam, etc. be sure you've made them using the actual byline and not an F line.
Hope this helps.
Kelli, try clicking on the Insert button at the top right of your keyboard.
Does anyone know how I get the INS at the bottom of the page when editing that lets me insert the word? Now I have OVR which overwrites the word. I forget how I get that changed. I accidentally hit something. Ugh!!

Welcome to our newest member, Shelby Binham! Hi, Shelby, hope you find lots of good info here!
Quyen,
It's the Auto Magic you need to turn off. Then you'll be able to edit normally like you did on Version 4. I feel the same way you do on that aspect.
Julie, I don't believe the lagging is caused by my antivirus. It worked fine with E4. Unless you're saying that it causes the lagging with E5 and not 4. Also, if anything, I would want Eclipse to work well in realtime. If I do realtime with 4 and edit in 5, it defeats the purpose of using 5 at all, since I can edit much faster in 4. The lagging is a major issue, and, clearly, I'm not the only one with this problem. If/when the lagging issue is resolved, then I would consider giving 5 another shot.
I don't know what the problem is, but I am still unable to use the numbers to pick a conflict while editing. I have turned the "Use numbers" on and off to see it that makes any difference, and it does not. Trying to use 5 to edit has slowed down my progress and is too frustrating for me to deal with.
Kelli, do you know what the specific problems are with Windows 8? I desperately need a new computer. Gone through two laptops in the last year: literally fried one in the Sacramento summer heat in my car and dropped one pretty hard out of the back of my car, and now it's acting up on me with random blue screens, which have corrupted some files I was working on -- and had to start over from an unedited backup! :( I literally say a little prayer every time I turn on my computer and while I'm working on it that it doesn't crash on me. I need a new computer again, and if Windows 8 has problems, I'm really screwed.
Is anyone running Eclipse on a Windows 8 computer? Any problems?
My husband heard that Windows 8 is an OS to stay away from. Has tons of problems - sort of like Vista. I went out and bought another laptop with Windows 7 on it because I don't know when the next version after 8 is coming out.
