Eclipse Scopist (Send work request)

Reporters send out email blast to all Eclipse scopists for potential work

  • Kelli Combs (admin)

Please join the "Eclipse Scopist Send Work request" group. This way when a reporter needs a scopist, she/he can send a message to the whole Eclipse scoping group. I have placed the group on the front page.
  • Mary K. Levy

I received an e-mail with Brandon Combs' request for a scopist. Is this a test? If not, you should include a little more information about what type of work, official or freelance, is audio required, etc. so someone can respond accurately with the correct scopist information.

I'm a reporter of 30 years and recently had to quit on account of a nerve problem in my hand. I've helped reporters build up their job files and make briefs for them after analyzing their transcripts, as well as giving them tips on writing and other matters that reporters come accross during our careers. It's comforting knowing you have a mentor who cares.

SPEND TIME WHERE THE MONEY IS -- ON THE STENO MACHINE!

Let us do the work. With 30 years of reporting experience, currently along with my coaching, I'm scoping on Eclipse and proofreading. When I scope, I scope with a reporter's mind.

I have an extremely competent proofreader who does my overflow. He being a former tech writer is trained to proofread like an eagle. He's also very insightful when it comes to understanding the subject matter, as well as the big picture in the suit at hand. Great with IP and electronics depos.

The two of us together, scoping and proofreading make a powerful team, as we often consult and discuss problems that may arise. At times, we can even do your final corrections. Take the pressure off and give us a try.

I am starting a daily on Monday 12/7/09 and need a scopist for Monday and Wednesday this week. It is for an insurance proceeding at an OAH hearing, which runs similar to a trial. There are six fast talking attorneys. There are other CSRS but I'm not sure how they're going to be rotated. They're giving me full days and I want to make sure I get the transcript in to them by 8:00 a.m. the next morning. Starr a. Wilson wangxing@mail.com (415) 239-8398

Let me add more information so you're in the know. I will be doing audio on MusicBank and forwarding the wave files from that plus I try to write as cleanly as I can. So what does that mean? The only real problem I have with my writing is the n becomes ? all the time and that little problem has to be looked for but I'm a clean writer and it's basically going through the transcript to make sure I have the right speakers going. i will forward the first "files" at the morning break 10:00 or 11:00 a.m., the second file at the lunch hour; the third file at the afternoon break around 3:00 or so and then the last file at the end of the day. This will be about 250 pages. If that is too much (and I DO UNDERSTAND) let me know and I'll do the afternoon session when I get home. I have to e-mail the "finished job" to the agency by 8:00 the next morning so they can e-mail it to counsel.
I have to provide a "dirty" disc the end of the day's session.

I am up for the task. I am in San Diego and available all day. Please contact me if you are still looking for help and I can provide references upon request.

I am looking for scoping work and ideas on how to "get the name out there."
I have an ad with scopists.com in the Baton Rouge, LA section. Any comments on how I can improve the content would be very helpful.

    Thanks

Hi, Kelli...hope you had a good vacation.

I have a question about the new area, Eclipse scopists send work request.

I thought it was set up to send notices to Eclipse scopists from reporters who are looking for scoping help. Do I have that right?

The reason I ask, I've been getting e-mails from CSRnation scopists who are looking for work, to advertise themselves.

Please set me straight on the purpose of this area.

Thanks. Happy holidays to you and yours, Kelli....joyce davis
  • Karen A. Jones

    Joyce,
You and are on the same wavelength! I thought like you did; that this area was for reporters to post when they're looking for help, not for scopists looking for work.
I, too, get e-mail notification of anything posted here but only one so far as been a reporter looking for a scopist.

  • Delicia Struss

Argh.  I don't understand how this group works.  I only see comments from three years ago.

  • Kathy Warhola

Thanks for saying that, Delicia.  I'm experiencing the same thing.  What am I doing wrong?

  • Delicia Struss

Whew, it's not just me.  :)

I am a California court reporter looking for a scopist to help me in a trial.  It may turn into a daily,  but at this point, they have just ordered about 1200 pages to be produced as soon as possible. RHarrisCSR@Hotmail.com

  • Rhonda R. Harris, CSR

I found a couple of scopist to help me out.  Thanks so much to everyone who responded to my request.

  • Elise Nock

Hello, I am in a terrible bind and need an experienced scopist to do a next-day expedite tonight if possible!  I am still on V4.  Please email me at elise-captioner@comcast.net.  Thx!!

  • Kelli Combs (admin)

This group is for reporters to send out email blasts to hire a scopist.  It is NOT for scopists to send out email blast to advertise themselves.  They can post here to advertise themselves but do NOT send out an email blast to the group.  That's for reporters to find a scopist.  Thank you.

  • Judi Johnson

    Hi,
I'm a veteran reporter of 20 years. I'm on eclipse v6. I'm an RMR, RPR and CRR. I'm on an immediate federal criminal trial this week and my regular Scopist got sick and my backup Scopist has her own trial. Lol. I'm looking to add another Scopist to my group. We work in teams. Usually an hr on and an hr off. I will probably take 2 sessions a day. I will send the file immediately and upload the audio to Dropbox ASAP. I pay the moment I receive a bill, via PayPal. If you can help, please let me know your rates. Our immediates are due to the attorney 2 hrs after court finishes for the day, so turnaround time is very quick. But because we only do an hr or so at a time, it's not crazy pages.

    Thanks
  • Judy

I'm looking for a couple of Eclipse v5 (and above) to scope a couple of meetings.  The room was mic'd and the feed from the mics was going directly into my secondary audio, which is the best audio to hear, so you will need a foot pedal.  I need to start getting them back by Tuesday (I'm going on vacation starting Friday night, so need to get them out of here).  If anybody is interested in helping, please e-mail your rates, your turnaround time for this project, and a few references to judyrunes@yahoo.com.  Thanks.

I am in a crunch.  Looking for an Eclpse scopist to prepare 100 pages of closing argument with a one-day turnaround.

  • Jean

Hi, To all the Eclipse v. 4, 5, and 6 Court Reporters out there looking for a great certified scopist, I am looking for work.  I have 6 years of experience scoping and I do it full time.  I am looking for extra work right now and have references.  As soon as my website is up and running, I'll add the link on my main page.  My rates are pretty standard but my work is not.  I put a lot of time into my jobs and always do full audio.  I'm  also available for proofing and dailies.  I'm in northern california but have worked with reporters from all over the country.  Let me know if I can help you out.

  • Ciara

Hello, I'm Ciara, a scopist using ProCAT version 11.2.22 and Eclipse version 6. I am looking to work with 1-2 additional reporters on a regular basis. My schedule is very flexible and my turnaround time is excellent. You can reach me via e-mail at ckvij@juno.com. Thanks and have a great day.

  • Rhonda R. Harris, CSR

I am a very busy court reporter with a high volume of transcript production. I work with several proofers and scopists, and I pay timely.
Yes, I am looking for an highly experienced and very dependable Eclipse scopist. I have approximately 1000 pages of court proceedings I need produced over the next several weeks until approximately April 18. After completion of each day's session, I would like the transcript delivered to a proofer who will then proof the session and then forward it on to me. If you're interested, I would like to know your fees, where you are located and any references that you may be able to provide to me.
  • Quyen

This saves the reporter tons of time. Reasonable rates and flexible turnarounds. Immediate availability. Experienced working with teams and doing dailies. Email suziefernandez10@gmail.com for more information.

  • Deborah Dusseljee

Hello.  I am on Total Eclipse v6.  I own the company so I typically take overflow but occasionally write daily and expedited assignments so Connection Magic experience would be helpful.  I prefer Gregg Reference Manual and MW spellings.  If you have availability, please contact me, ddusseljee@compuscripts.com
