Are you still in need of a scopist? I am new to the field and would love to live up to your standards!! If you are interested let me know. I am an avid reader and find typos in the books that I read all of the time. I am also proficient in English. I look forward to hearing from you about this position. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Kim

    Hey Maria,

Why are you selling your Stylus? After many months of investigation on writers, I think I am going with the Mira. I want to go paperless. I know the Stylus is paper/paperless, but I don't want to be bothered with using the touch-screen.

    Thank you,
    Susan
  • Susan Crivello

Hi Maria. Congradulations on your wedding! I was going to buy a Stylus from someone in Florida, and found out from ProCat she had made numerous calls about the writer. It was some minor problems she did not understand. The problem is, I live in New York and you live in LA, and I would not be able to try out the writer. Also, I contacted ProCat and found out there is a $125 inspection fee and a $250 transfer fee, which I think is ridiculous. Stenograph does not charge a fee to transfer a writer as long as it is still under warranty. I love the idea of putting the mini keyboard on top of your writer.

Hey, Marla! It is great to hear from you! Yes, my relationship finally ended for good in July. What happened in May (which you know about) was a false alarm, but it was only postponing the inevitable. I've been back for about two and a half months now. I'm ready to work! Whenever you need me! I'm no longer using The Depo Depot because it was tied into my relationship, but e-mail and PayPal works just as well. Thanks, Marla! I hope to hear from you soon! (And by the way, your excellent work made my job a breeze!) Thank you for the "endorsement" you put on my page! :-) --Chris
  • Kyung

    Hey,

    Did I mention, you're a beautiful bride.
  • Tami

Think my son would be interested in the machine. He's taking the CSR in two weeks.

I'm at Frazierfami7@verizon.net. Would you let me know the particulars??

    Beautiful wedding pic! Congrats!

Hi, Marla....wanted to say it was really nice to meet you finally. I'm really glad you have those get-togethers, even though this last one people kind of flaked out on. I think it's great to have opportunities to meet other court reporters. I will definitely try to come next time with Christine (or Audrey or Yvette even said I could car-pool with them).
  • Heidi Johnson

It's digiwriter@hotmail.com, but I'm already on your e-mail list. I'll be looking forward to the next get-together.
  • Imagine Reporting

Okay, I just left a comment on the blog portion, still getting used to this site. And I realized the 19th had already past! Duh!!! It's been a long day!

If you organize another one, please let me know, and count me in:)
  • Kelli Combs (admin)

Ohh my god! there isn't :(
Its a nightmare to delete more than 5 pictures... let me see if I can find a better way.
    I'll let you know.
    thanks
  • Kelli Combs (admin)

Very good idea.. I always wish I did that 11 months ago.. we would have had a very good faq page by now.

PICTURES FROM THE 9TH OCCASIONAL SOCAL CSR OUTING CAN BE SEEN AT: http://groups.msn.com/SoCalCSRForum/shoebox.msnw

I'll post them in my album on this site as well.

I saw the pics on the MSN site. What a cool spot. I am so bummed that I missed out. Boo-hoo. I'll try to make it next time. But don't I always say that. But no more vacations for me for the rest of the year. Maybe a holiday get-together.
  • Kyung

Not sure about a spa weekend in Palm Springs since I just came from there and I'm not sure what the money sitch will be in January after the holidays.

Holiday cruise would be nice. But I know that would be difficult to arrange. There's always the Huntington Garden Tea room. I bet they would have something special for the holidays. Anyway, just some ideas.
  • Kyung

    Hey,

Did you see the formula? Is that what you needed?
  • Kyung

Those formulas are hard. Way too much thinking is involved. Kind of lot indexing in Eclipse.
  • Kyung

I downloaded the booklet on it, but I haven't had a chance to look at it. I think I could get mine up and running, but I would need a serious chunk of time. After I do mine, then I probably would be able to do other's. But it's that thinking thing again. I'm not too fond of it. Makes my brain hurt.
  • Jeremy Vanderwyst

Well, hello. Thanks for the friendly comment. I am doing pretty well in school. Hoping to graduate in the next year. So, a fellow Ohioan on board. I actually lived out in California a few years ago. I was stationed out in Northern California while serving in the U.S. Coast Guard. Southern California is beautiful. One of my good friends from the Coast Guard was from Orange County. Do you have any advice for a student? Am I making the right decision? I am working on getting a better picture posted. For now Brutus will have to work :-).
  • Kyung

Come visit my page and see my magic elves.
  • Audrey Ricks

Hi Marla! And a belated Happy Thanksgiving to you! Sorry I didn't make the outing, but Whistler was SO worth leaving town for the holidays! We got snow the last couple of days -- it was beautiful! Your photos from the outing are great -- looks like great fun was had by all! Any confirmations for the January outing yet?
  • Audrey Ricks

Thanks for the compliments on my photos! I am using a Nikon D-80 with a Nikkor (sp?) lens, 18x 200, the one with the vibration stabilization features (less blur on distance photos from camera shake).

I was thinking the same thing about the costs in January after the spending in December. Yikes! I don't have any ideas other than if it comes down to it, Long Beach would be fun. December *feels* like it's going to be busy work-wise, so maybe I'll be well ready for a spa weekend in January! (ha!)
  • Kyung

How about the The Lab for an OC outing?
  • Kyung

So how late did you end up staying?

I didn't get out of there until almost 6. Bleh!!
  • Kyung

Talking about cheap get-togethers. One of the outings should be to the OC Great Park. There's nothing much there now, but we could do a picnic lunch and ride the Great Park Balloon. The flights are free. It's just a matter of weather permitting.
  • Kyung

OMG. Don't take this wrong, but I can see a little similarity in the hairdo between you and Will if you had pulled your hair back. But yours is much better and a prettier color.
  • Kyung

But I love your hair. It's beautiful. I dunno. I kind of like my picture. It speaks to my true inner self.
  • Kyung

    Merry Christmas!!
  • Tami

    Happy Holidays, Marla!

Are you still up in the snowy north?
  • Kyung

Wow!! Lots of New Year cheer here.

    Happy New Year.
  • Kyung

Hope you get lots of slow-talking attorneys, lots of pages, and lots of copies.
  • Kyung

How's it going? It's picking up a little bit.
  • Kyung

Well, you never know. It may all cancel at the last minute. Knock on wood.
  • Kyung

Another great group. Word Help. I'm always driving myself crazy over hyphenation.
  • Jodi Harrison

    Hi Marla,

You're networking ideas are awesome. Do you know of any C.R./Videographer networking get togethers coming up in the near future? I'm a videographer, and I'd love to introduce myself to some local Court Reporters.
    email address: jhonthego@sbcglobal.net
    Thank you, Jodi Harrison, 818-522-0592
  • Jodi Harrison

    Hi Marla,

Thank you for putting me on your list. I'll keep a look out for a great get-together place.
  • Susan Crivello

Hi Marla, I can't seem to find your list of punctuation entries. Can you post it again. Was there a new group for punctuation?

    Thank you,
    Susan
  • Clay Frazier

    Hey, Marla.
Thanks for all the comments. It's nice, but I think I'm going to take the profile pic down and replace it with some dorky tie-and-suit shot.
My b-day is actually in a few days short of a month. I guess I didn't submit a birth cert to csrnation or something cuz it was published prematurely. I'll be 22.
  • Kyung

So did it work? Is it just like the "old" days?
  • Kyung

Glad it worked out. Yay!! So are you going to update to the latest and greatest?
  • Mike Gaines

    Marla-

Thanks for the Friend invite. Always looking for new people to work with. I'm primarily (90%) working for other agencies, video firms, etc., and have a hand-full of attorney clients.

Would love for you to consider me next time you need a videographer. And to pay you a commision or finder's fee of course! Thanks. Mike
  • Mike Gaines

    Marla-

Hi. It wasn't me who referred you to that person. (What a great name. I wouldn't have forgotten it!) Thanks for adding me to your list. If next event isn't on a Tues, Weds or Thurs eve., I'd really like to come. Have a lot of committments through most of Feb.

And yes, Gale Lucas is a real doll, figuratively and literally!

    Mike
  • Gale Lucas

    Hi Marla!

Good to have you as a CSRnation friend. As always, I admire all your energy. One day I would love to make it to one of the parties. They sound like a lot of fun.

    Stay in touch!

    Gale
  • Kyung

Are you going to the DRA convention? Maybe we can have social meeting at the Fairmont.
  • Kyung

I think the turnout is going to be really good for your social. Yay!!
