Hey, t hanks for your comments and encouragement, almost a month ago, I see where CSR has added many more people to their roles. This is incredible!
I hope to get this done within a year, year and a half, tops, and get started. I am taking a buyout/incentive to leave my automotive job with a full pension, but with the cost of everything going up with oil/gas costs, I know that I will have to and WANT to work. I wanted to do this when I was 18, and it means a lot now to do it at the present time.
I practice daily, over an hour and a half at church today (rare thing people going to church to practice steno, i'm sure), but I love the content, and he talks at varied rates of speed, from 220+ , down to 140 or so, and thats about it.
Just wanted to thank you once again for your support and encouragement. We students need it, really

At that time, the profession was still more than 50% male, and males were requested far more often than females due to their delicate sensibilities. Things have changed. The attorneys no longer concern themselves with the delicacy of the testimony that the reporter will be exposed to. They are far more interested in looking at an attractive you woman across the conference room table from them. I have 11 reporters working for me now with only one male. Anyway, good luck with your efforts. Are you currently still in theory, or have you moved on to higher speeds?

I wonder what I could have done if I had started this when I really wanted to. High school (l968 to l972) had just introduced the first electric typewriters back then, Smith Corona models, I think. That was the start of my quest for speed.
I'm excited that so many are joining this website, I think that those that choose this profession are a bit more driven or somewhat different than people that just want to do a job. I'm impressed that I'm finding more male stenos that are actually in the business, because my steno classes at my local college have 70 people in their program, and only one other guy besides myself.
