Hi, Tausha.

Thanks for clarifying... because if YOU knew something I didn't know about transitioning much more quickly and effortlessly from transcriptionist to broadcast captioner WITHOUT having to go through court reporting school, I WANTED TO KNOW!!! Hehehe. Unfortunately, I don't think there are any "shortcuts." There usually aren't any shortcuts to the better things in life! :P But that's ok... because the mountaintop is sweeter once we've climbed and overcome the challenges of getting to the top! We'll get there! :)

About police reports, I got that "gig" as an employee for Huntington Court Reporters & Transcription, Inc. Lucky for you because they're based in Pasadena, which isn't too far from Burbank! Maybe you'd like to apply? They're open 24 hours since the reports need to come in at all times, so they'll have a more flexible schedule than that Fortune 500 company. The work is very interesting, and I loved coming to work! Unfortunately, I left HCRT after only a short time there because I got another great opportunity working at a law office as a legal assistant (where I work part-time now).

Hope this info helps!

Hi, Tausha.

When you say you're transitioning from medical transcriptionist to broadcast captioner, do you mean that you use your steno machine when you do your medical transcription jobs? Or are you going to court reporting school for your future broadcast captioning career? Just curious.

I'm a freelance transcriptionist, but I use the QWERTY keyboard. I'm a full-time court reporting student, and I (obviously! hehehe!) use the steno machine.

Anyway, thanks in advance for any insight you could offer. :)

I hope you have HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! :D
