Light Speed by Stenovations.

Hi, everyone.  I have a friend that is considering purchasing the Light Speed by Stenovations.  She has some general questions, and because we all know how daunting the task of purchasing a steno machine can be, I'm hoping to get some good, general feedback.

Stacy, so glad to hear you are doing so well these days!  Shooting for 200 means it won't be too much longer now!  I've had a nice slowdown with work.  Just in time for me to test out the new Eclipse developmental version.  So we're both excited!

Hi! Yes, I came here to see where I posted that about practicing from perfect notes, and found it on your page! One of those weird coincidences!

I think if you posted a classified ad, you'd definitely get a buyer.  Many students are interested in the ergo factor.

Now that you have another writer, here's a paste of an old post from this site I wrote about how I passed my Certificate of Merit (RMR) at the same time as my CSR after two years and two months in full-time CR school a million years ago.

Here's how I practiced from perfect paper tape notes. I would take my lesson book which had page-long transcripts, essentially. I don't have them any more. I'm thinking there was literary and jury charge and Q and A. I'd put it next to me on a desk, then I'd stroke out perfectly one or two sentences. I'd rip the paper off, put it where I could see it easily, and while looking only at my actual strokes on the paper, keep writing those same strokes, going faster and faster. Once I was really fast and smooth, I'd move on to the next sentence or two.

If you try it, please start a new discussion and let me know if it helps you with your accuracy, speed, and readback. Jenny

Tons of great advice in that thread!

Hi, Stacy!  You have a Gemini writer?  Which one?  I've had the Piper and now the Grand.  I saw your post on Facebook - unless there are two Stacys.  This is a great site.  Lots of good info over here.  Read through the older posts when you have time.  Enjoy!
