I'm a small agency in NJ and I'm contemplating using the Real Legal program so that my reporters can send in an ASCII file and I can print and send out for them. This seems to be the wave of the future!  Does anyone have any opinions on the program? Thanks for your  help!

I haven't asked them, as they asked me to send them the cert pages. I just assumed since they specifically said they wanted it done that way, then that's what they wanted. I guess it never hurts to ask though.

Some agencies will not work with the digital signature.

Will they let you scan your signed cert page to a PDF and send it to them?  Have you asked them?

I have a couple agencies that use digital signatures. And sending work to them is easiest. I just would like to be able to scan a signature as you do. It's so much faster and speeds up production.

Well, Reyes, I guess you have to do what the agency asks you to do.  As far as I know the digital signatures are just fine.  The one with Real Legal is notarized.

One of the firms I am working for has me scan my signed signature page and and email it to them.  I'm not having to send a physical signed signature page to anyone at this point.  Either they go in and grab my digital signature from Real Legal or I scan a signed cert. page and email it to them.

Janiece, are our digital signatures (regardless of the program used to create it) just as good as "traditional" signatures? Some agencies I work with insist that I send them traditionally signed cert pages. And that slows down the process of getting the transcripts out the door. It adds an additional day for me, as I never know what page a transcript will end on for sure.

Here's what I found so far.

Add a digital signature to a file or macro project

You digitally sign a file or a macro project by using a digital certificate.

  1. If you don't already have a digital certificate, you must obtain one.

ShowHow?

  1. Do one of the following:

HideSign a file

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options, and click the Security tab.
  2. Click Digital signatures.
  3. Click Add.
  4. Select the certificate you want to add, and then click OK.

My understanding is there is no fee to the individual court reporter.  The agency pays a monthly fee to Real Legal.

Janiece, what were the key words you used to search on Windows 7?  I tried to search, but nothing was found.  I'm probably using the wrong words.  Thanks!
