I am working on a depo with an Indian baby doctor! He said he placed her in the something position for delivery and then they prepped the perineum. It sounds like peritardum position or bellitardum or something like that. I've googled till I can't google any more. Any help?

I will admit that there are times when I give up and let the word stand, but this is a video depo that is going to have the transcript synced. I think that I probably might not have taken as much time trying to figure out the word had it not been for that, but I think it's a challenge to be able to finally figure out that word sometimes, too.

Sometimes I can't figure out words. You must forgive yourself for this problem. One thing I was told by an experienced reporter was this, "Let them change it." The witnesses are allowed changes. The attorneys were probably having problems with his accent as well. I would put the word you think it is, then put "phonetic."

Oh, my gosh, it IS lithotomy! Instead of slowing the speed way down, I made it faster than normal and that's when I heard it. He stuttered and said "into the, uh, lithotomy," and it was the uh that was getting me all along. Thanks for the help.

When the doc first got there prior to birth, he's talking about how a normal delivery is done, placing the mother in this position, prepping the perineum, etc. Geez, I'm gonna give up and call him tomorrow. Watch it be something so simple and I'm making it be harder than it should be.

It's just frustrating because I feel like I've wasted so much time on this one word. It's been so long since I've taken someone with that thick of an accent that I figured out most his words about 45 seconds AFTER he said them.

Thanks, I saw that. I wish I could let you hear the words. It's definitely not an L sound though. I'm getting a B o P sound and went with the peri something for awhile. I keep trying to get my brain into the cadence of his voice; in other words, I'm trying to channel my inner Indian doctor :-)
