HELP! I've been asked to do an adoption consent, and I have no idea what I'm going to be expected to do! I've never done something like this before. All the info I was given was where I needed to go, and I also need to bring my notary stamp. Has anyone done this before? Am I taking down something, or am I just notarizing the paperwork? Thanks! BTW, this is in Florida.

I've only done one before, and I had to take down a statement by the mother giving the baby up for adoption.  It was kind of like a statement under oath, where the attorney asked her questions and she answered.  It's been a long time ago, though, so I don't remember if I had to take my notary or not.  I was asked recently to take one and turned it down because the first one was hard on me, watching the teenage mother cry because she was giving her baby up.  Stuff like that makes me too emotional.  Of course, seeing the adoptive parents waiting out in the hallway was a feel-good thing, but still . . .
