I need help with a word

what is the correct spelling for the word "mass" when it is referring to the nameplate of the attorneys outside the door?

I've seen m-a-s-k used as part of a printing layout process, not as in covering something up but more setting up a title.  Can't point you to a reference, though.

A I don't recall when Mr. Barnwell's name was added to the *mass.  I honestly don't recall.  I know that there have been lawyers that have come and left, and we have changed it since -- at some point to remove those who have left, but I don't remember the last time we changed it.
