I'm curious how everyone calculates page rates.  For example, say you have an expedite and a video surcharge.   Do you figure the expedited page rate based on the the whole rate including the video surcharge?  For instance.  Let's say your rate you get paid for normal delivery on the 0&1 is $3.25 (your cut).  Video surcharge is .50.   Do you take the expedite percentage based on $3.75 or based on $3.25 and then add the video surcharge in at the end so you're not charging expedited rate on the surcharge?

Expedite surcharge is based on the page rate and other surcharges (video, expert, telephone) are added. Those other surcharges are a flat rates and not surcharged.  No surcharge on the surcharges.

You lost me Marge.  Do add expedite to the video surcharge or not?

You figure your normal page rate and add whatever expedite percentage applies to that.  And then you add your video surcharge and any other surcharge like telephone or expert.  There's no surcharge on the surcharge.   No, you don't add an expedite surcharge to any surcharge.  You only add the expedite surcharge to the pages.

You guys get paid extra if the depo is videotaped????  I rarely get them, but I have done some in the past and never got paid extra!!!

Live and learn, Carol!  I've been getting that and charging for it for a very long time, decades!

Thanks, Marge, I do learn so much reading this site, among others!  Ugh, I have never gotten offered anything extra for a videotaped depo.  I remember taking a really long, hard one, from a Glock firearm expert......so hard!  Would have been nice to get extra money for that one!  It was close to 400 pages because the witness flew in and had to fly out that night.  Thanks!!  I will charge now, that's for sure!

Everyone I know, CR or agency, does this, too.

Videos often take more edit time if you have unmic-d attorneys making objections and you can't always hear their objections or low volume, mumbly witnesses.   I often have to check the videographer's audio at least spot check.
