Does anyone have a suggestion for a mini computer or tablet that's in the $200 range that works well with Eclipse and provides good audio (I have Martel USB mic)?  It would only have Eclipse on it; no mail, nothing else.

I am buying the over-the-shoulder case they're selling with the new Passport and am told it will work with mine, too, but I need a very small computer.  I'm doing this because I'm just so tired of lugging a heavy case for the  Passportplus another heavy bag for my 15" laptop, and then see people with a Diamonte pack up in minutes and have a really manageable writer/computer case.

Suggestions are much appreciated!  Thank you!

I would strongly suggest you don't buy a netbook in the $200 range.  I had done that.  It was a flop.  The netbook would stop working, just crash.  I had one time I thought everything was okay, and all of a sudden I realized that it had stopped working about 30 pages back.  It just disappeared.   Those little $200 netbooks are not intended for heavy duty work.

I wrote a "fantastic" article on my Linkedin regarding your equipment.  I will attach it.

Thank you so much, Mary Jo.  I so appreciate your generosity!  Looked for you "fantastic" article but don't see the attachment.

Ellen,

I think you can get a "smaller" computer but it is going to cost more than $200.  I don't think you can run Eclipse on a tablet but you should check with Advantage to be sure.  I think you need a full-power computer to run your software.  I am on CC so I would check with Advantage to be certain.  Good luck!!!  There are some very light computers out there.  I think the SSD (solid state drive) computers are very light and thin but they are more costly.

Thank you, Janiece!

You are most welcome, Ellen.

Did you see Mary Jo's article?  She posted it on this page.

Uggh, no.  IDK how I'm missing it, but I am!

The article is titled "Your Business Equipment" and it is here in the forum. :-)

Read it!  Thank you for posting it on the site.  It was helpful to read and I'm def looking into the $500 computer!

15" laptop.  Boy, I want that.  Even IF you did find a small workable netbook, the screen is about nine inches.  It's too dang small for easy readback.  I am no where the quality of the high quality reporters - but I am extremely organized.  I am packed up in two minutes.

Wheeling bag.  Small airport pillow on bottom.  Writer.  Laptop on top of writer.  Paper tray to the side with paper in tray. Tripod fits in there also.

Cotton lunch bag (which holds my digital recorder and batteries). That fits in on side.

Doctor bag (big purse that looks like an old fashioned doctor bag).  Everything else goes in there. (Cables, whatever).

thank you - I will play with your ideas!

I'm sorry.  I don't see your article, Mary Jo.  Where might I find it, please?
