Is anyone aware of a program that will convert doc files to ASCII?

Because doc files do not give you that as a "save as" option, all I would do is "select all" through "edit," and copy.  Then open your ASCII or Notepad program, right click and select "paste."

I don't know if that helps you or not.

Save it as an RTF, open it in WordPad and then you can save it as a txt.

There is an option in Word to "save as" with a .txt extension. That is the extension for an ASCII, .txt.
