Hi, looking to do some scoping - regular turnaround (four business days) on SmartCAT. Thanks!
Thank you, Cheryl, Debra and Warren, for replying.
I'm on SmartCat, no more contract and was trying to avoid calling them. I have a Sentura 8000, a Sony Vaio with lots of space and the internal mic works fine.
I've had crashes before, but the audio was always there up to the point of the crash. The wav file still shows in the job properties, but when I go to play it in the job it says there is no audio associated with this job.
Had a cassette recorder in my case and put that on quick, but too late and too flustered and too busy fidgeting to get back up and running. (no one would stop for a few needed minutes for me because -- well, you know.) From now on I'm going to use it as a back-up all the time.
Continued writing the job when back up and running, and it caught up to me and so the full text is there but no audio from before the crash.
Well, thanks again, for everybody's input. It's nice to know I'm not alone out there while everyone else is on Case Catalyst!
I think it depends on what type of writer you have, also, whether it is ALSO recording audio as you write. My Stentura 8000 doesn't do that, so it's totally dependent on the CAT software to make the audio file. As a backup to all my jobs, I place a digital voice recorder on the table and hit RECORD to give me one more backup for audio in case my CAT software failed, as it did a few weeks back. Luckily I had a videographer's .mp3 file that he was able to share with me which meshed just fine with my text file. Since your software is not dependable of late, I'd strongly recommend a digital voice recorder for backup. I also plug in earplugs to the recorder as the job is being written, and the audio is great for volume enhancement while I write. Like Cheryl stated earlier, depending on your writer model and abilities, you just might have an audio file on your writer, too, that could be recoverable. Good luck, Barbara. Sorry for your troubles of late.
Can anyone please explain how to send just the raw notes made in TurboCAT to ACORN, as we have to do now when covering Los Angeles Superior court?
I made an rtf file of the notes, but was told it was the wrong file type.
Thank you so much
