Hello, I am an Eclipse scopist (on version 5) with 6 years experience scoping and 20 years proofreading. I'm a certified technical writer; I do top notch work on all grammar components. I also have a bio-med background, so medical terms don't bother me. I am a veritable detective when it comes to finding spellings on the internet, but when in doubt I will flag it. I follow the specs and preferences I am given and have recommendations, references, and samples available upon request. My regular turnaround is about 75 pages per day excluding Sundays. I will make you look good!
Sure wish we could comment on specific posts......
I don't really want to do a "work request." Those haven't worked out for me. I am looking for an overflow scopist and a backup proofer who uses CC (they don't have to be the same person). I thought I had found one, but when she "didn't hear from" me she took on other proofing work. I specifically said I was looking for overflow and I would give her the next small job I had as a test job. Anyway. Moving forward.
I need someone who knows how to use the software. Fields, Bylines, undestand how to insert text inside hidden text for indexing, global table management... I am a little braindead right now from yesterday's 350. It's okay if you don't know it, you just have to be WILLING to learn it. I was negotiating with a scopist yesterday and everything was fine until I asked those questions and then she decided that it "wasn't going to work out." What a waste of time. I am an Advanced User. I do units, use DropBox. Hate send this file or whatever it's called.
I have encountered 2 problems lately. One. Things have changed. The days of taking your time to complete a transcript is Over. I had a proofreader actually balk at anything BUT 5-day turn! I have an 8-day turn at my office. There may be parts of the country where that is okay but it's not where I work. If you take the job, you need to turn it. If you have appointments during the day, parties, funerals, where you can't work, you need to say that. I have no problem with it. If I ask you to take a job on Friday and you tell me that you have 2 doc appointments that day but can work on it in the afternoon, no problem. But don't turn around and ask me if you can get it back to me by Monday or Tuesday bc you don't want to work on the weekend!
The second problem is quality. Some scopists, bc they don't know, weren't trained, worked with other reporters who like to do half the work themselves AND pay a scopist, have issues with completeness. The internet does work. It's easy to research something. Don't edit a job without looking at the app page! It gives you lots of info. I actually had a scopist scope a whole job w/out looking and it was VIDEO and she scoped it as a reguar.
Reporters are not giving scopists what they need. Reporters, give your scopist a SPELLING LIST, the style or Notice, the exhibits, whatever they need for cripe sakes!!!!!!!
So after all that ranting, if you would like to do some overflow work and have experience, please contact me with your rates at purchases2011 at yahoo. I am very fair. If I give you a crappy job, the next one will be good. I will not use you as the backup who gets all the crappy jobs. I don't do that, unlike firms that do that to overflow reporters.
The goal is to get out the best transcript possible.
Six-year Case CAT veteran scopist available for work. I use Morson's as a reference. If you prefer a different source, I'm happy to accommodate you, as long as I know what that source is. I am reliable, dependable, and have a great work ethic. I strive for no more than a four-day turnaround. I do work on weekends and some holidays. My rates are reasonable. I'm happy to provide references upon request. Please contact me if you'd like more info. jessiebrianne at hot mail dot com
I am a former court reporter (12 years) who is ready to scope or proofread your jobs. I use Eclipse v.4.3 and 5. I have excellent grammar, punctuation, and spelling skills. Contact me at (307) 360-8207 or acescoping at gmail dot com for my flexible rates and quick turnaround times. References readily available. I am ready to build a great working relationship with you.
Hello to everyone, I'm in need of a scopist asap! I've got two jobs that I need someone to scope for me. I've got too much working going on right now. They're PI depos. They are a combination of 140 pages. I've got case CATALYST 4. Please e-mail me at halo172516@yahoo.com for rates. I would need these jobs back by Sunday afternoon at the latest!!
Hi, I have been scoping for over a year now and am currently working with a couple reporters. I’ve done depositions, trials, interviews and discovery jobs. I use The Record Player for my audio but I am happy to use whatever program is compatible with your audio/video files. I am a stickler for spelling and won't hesitate to look up facts to ensure the transcript gets back to you in the best shape possible. My turnaround for non-rush jobs is 3-5 days and I’m also available to do expedited transcripts. I will never leave you hanging for getting a job back in time!
I really enjoy scoping, so if you are in need of any help, please consider me. If you would like references, email me and I would be happy to provide them for you.
Thanks, Veronica

Hi, everyone. I've been scoping for over 25 years. I am also a retired reporter. I worked in criminal court for 16 years. I have Case Catalyst, Total Eclipse, and StenoCat 32. I also used to teach court reporting at a local university. Feel free to drop me a note if you need some scoping done.
Very experienced reporter with some time on my hands! I've been reporting depos for 22 years and pro-temming in court for a year. I'm not getting a ton of transcripts in court (and pro-tem rates in court are not particularly high), so I'd like to take on some scoping. My turnaround is lightning fast and my rates are shockingly reasonable :) I prefer scoping your work to my own. I don't know the ending in your story! My normal habit is to spot check audio when something looks "off," and I will do full audio scoping when requested for a higher rate. Please e-mail me at l y n p e n f i e l d @ c o x . net (you know what it should REALLY look like) and help stop my Bejeweled Blitz addiction!!! I'm on Eclipse V, but I can still accommodate Eclipse IV.
Experienced Eclipse scopist(s) with great work ethics and grammar skills, independent and reliable, and looking for a long-term reporter/scopist professional relationship? Please add me to your "Friends" list with your contact information. Thank you.
Just thought I'd post my needs and have relevant scopists/proofers apply.
I'm looking for a very experienced scopist/proofer on CaseCatalyst, that is comfortable with technical intellectual property source code (not all the time, but it does come up frequently.) Most of my work expedites, so I'll need someone that can jump right in, using SendThisFile, listening to full audio and turning around transcripts immediately.
I understand you all need to juggle your schedules, but once you've made a commitment to me, you must follow through to completion. If you can't, you must let me know so I can find someone else to finish the job. At the moment, I am looking for an overflow scopist/proofer for those extreme rush jobs or when my regulars are unavailable.
Please call 530.470.9051 to discuss rates.

You're welcome. I wish I had known it sooner.
Thanks for the tip, Delicia. Good to know.
Hi, fellow scopists (and reporters). I learned something new the other day, that "crawlers" pick up our e-mail from public sites where we display our e-mail addresses. I guess this is the way we get spam. I am told to put our e-mail addresses like so: del struss at a o l dot com (something like that). Just a little tip I learned. :)
I can do relatively quick turn around work, and overnight as well. I listen to all audio, rather than just segments for clarification. I am very flexible and willing to work with your needs. Let me know what I can do for you.
Hi! I am a Case CATalyst (v13) scopist looking for another reporter. I can read steno, have excellent grammar skills, quick turnaround times, and reasonable rates. If you check out my web page, there is a link to LinkedIn where a couple of reporters have recommended my services.
My background includes medical and general transcription as well as word processing for land title (real estate), engineering (chemical, nuclear, wind energy, etc.), and much more. I use the LMEG and Merriam-Webster as my standards, but your preferences will come first.
You can either contact me directly at scopingstudio@gmail.com or visit my web site at www.scopingstudio.weebly.com.
I've had many years of scoping experience on Eclipse 4.3 and 5, and I'm available to do word-for-word scoping, with or without full audio-sync. I use the Gregg Reference Manual, but your preferences are more important. I am fussy about grammar, punctuation, spelling and timely turnaround.
If you want the help of an excellent scopist, please email me at lmedina1 @ optonline.net (without the spaces) for my rates and any questions you may have. I'm looking forward to working with you!
Hi All,
I am an Eclipse scopist using 4.3 and the newer version 5. I am currently looking to add another reporter. It can be for your overflow transcripts or full-time, part-time, one time or whatever you need.
Please e-mail me for my rates and turnaround times.
Thanks,
Connie
I have to say, though, that as someone who did just post looking for scopists, I know I haven't responded to everyone who sent me an e-mail, but that wasn't intentional. I posted in a rush and some of the e-mails, if I didn't initially flag them to contact back, got buried in my inbox and I haven't had a chance to sort back through them. So if I didn't respond, it wasn't intentional, and I truly haven't had a chance to.
Thanks, Delicia!
And Barbara, you're right! I kept the note she sent me so I'll remember who she is.
This is true -- even if you can't use my services at this time, it would be nice to get some sort of acknowledgment. Leslie, consider yourself lucky; even if the reporter can't use your services at present, at least s/he may be someone who may contact you later on (and, judging from her initial courtesy towards you, a good client).
