I have been in that same position a time or two myself, Michele, LOL....

The joys of being a horse lover!!!

Aww, that is a wonderful memory.  My parents weren't animal people, so I had to wait until I was out of the house and made my own money.  My first horse as an Appaloosa.  She was so stubborn and I didn't know what I was doing. She would dump me at the end of the property line all the time and I would be laying on the ground looking at the clouds thinking how great it was to own a horse!

That's a great idea.  I did not know you could "lease" a horse.

I grew up on a farm and I had a horse when I was 5 years old.  She was 1/2 quarter horse and 1/2 Appaloosa.  Her name was Snowball because she was mostly white.  I still remember my dad taking me to pick her out.  He let me pick the horse I wanted.  It is a special memory.

You look great riding, Michele.  I hope you get to do it again soon.

Thank you Janiece & Kelli,

That's Chip, he's a Quarter Horse that I rode for a while and showed.  I didn't own him; I leased him from one of the best trainers in the country, who I am lucky enough to live close to, and he is generous enough to offer him up.  Unfortunately, my mom became ill and I was traveling to Central Florida several times a month and I couldn't get out to ride and then he got sold.  The picture I just uploaded of Teddy, she was my horse for 14 years.  She was, quite simply, the best horse I could ever own.  She was as sweet as a little lamb.  I showed her in performance events, which is all flat events - no jumping (I'm too chicken and she was too lazy, LOL)  I had to put her down a couple of years ago.

Kelli, you should check out some local trainers in your area and take some lessons if you're interested.  It is tons of work, but there are people out there, I would imagine a lot in your area, that look for people who want to lease.  Great way to share a horse, share the work (or do none if that's part of your lease) and walk away if it doesn't work out.  Great exercise and great stress reliever!

Hey, Kelli,

I did not notice the name at the top.  Yes, they are a lot of work.  Maybe some day....

Janiece, the name of the picture is "Chip."  I bet that's his name.  I have always wanted a horse and never gotten one.  So jealous.  Tons of work, though.

Is that your horse, Michele?  What a beautiful animal?  What's the name of the horse?  It looks like you compete.  What are the things you compete in?
