The ones she's tried I think were directed more to the sugars in milk, and that's obviously not the problem because they've never helped. We figure it's the proteins, but we haven't found anything to help. Her dad gave her something that said "enzymes" on it, an OTC thing, with the same results. When we went to the doctor about it, the recommendation was to cut out all milk products for a month and introduce them slowly, one at a time. Still no good!

She's 19 now and just deals with it. When the pizza or quesadilla craving gets too much for her, she gives in, depending on her schedule, and pays for it later considering it well worth the price!

So sorry to hear about your daughter. And none of the meds help either? I knew someone who would use some of those medicines that helped digest the milk enzymes/proteins (I'm not sure which) just on special occasions.

And of course, my girl has to be the exception to that rule! Yogurt affects her worse than milk for some reason. I used to make a stuffed eggplant that has yogurt mixed into the couscous, and it just about killed her the last time she tried it.
She's pretty well written off ice cream (the horror!) and was trying to develop a taste for Tofutti or some other soy ice cream. Basically, she chooses her moment. If the treat is worthwhile, and she doesn't have anything she needs to do in the next 12-24 hours, she'll indulge. At this point, she saves those moments for cheese.
While I was at the grocery store today, I picked up some of those little B&Js -- and it's all your fault! :-P

They've got frozen yogurt. Some people find it easier to digest yogurt than regular milk.

Ben & Jerry's, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough; Starbucks, Coffee Almond Fudge.
I've never been willing to stand in the B&J's line for free scoop day, but I love the idea. I buy the little single-serve B&J ice cream. More expensive, but it's self-limiting. When it comes to ice cream, that's important! I'll more likely than not just sit down with the carton and a spoon. LOL

It's also much less cruel to my milk-intolerant daughter.
