I am in the process of looking at a new billing software system for reporter payroll as well as attorney billing, etc.  Any thoughts on ReporterBase v. Acculaw v. ????

Any thoughts/opinions/experience would be most helpful.  Thank you!

Free is great!  I used Reporter Works from 2001 to approximately 2012.  Even when it was a software for purchase, the price was extremely affordable for solo practitioners and small firms.  (The version I had ran on two operating upgrades that it wasn't even designed for before I transitioned to an online platform.)  I'm not sure what updates have been added since I stopped utilizing it, but it does all the basics for scheduling and billing and tracking receivables and commissions.  That Jason Meadors is now offering it for free now that it's no longer for sale does not surprise me in the slightest.  His generosity to our profession is endless.  Just keep in mind that free probably indicates that there is no support hotline to call if you have questions.  There's probably a support group somewhere where you can ask questions, though.

Depending on how large your firm is, I have heard of Reporter Works.  It is free.  I have not looked at it.  Don't know what it can do, but the price is right, LOL....

Depending on the size of your firm, I'd take a look at RepAgencyWorks.  It's got many of the features the small to mid-size firm will actually utilize without the higher price tag of RB:  repository, scheduling, accounting, rebill by email, account statements, reports, etc.
