I just joined the cover depos group in the New York area. How does it work? Will I be notified when a job needs coverage, or do I have to check the group myself periodically?

Hopefully it's worth the $50 yearly fee. Trying everything at this point since work has been unbelievably slow since Hurricane Sandy hit in New York.

I agree. $50 is totally reasonable. Thanks for the response! =)

I think 50.00 is pretty cheap.  I pay that to get my nails done every two weeks.

What happens, Krystin, is your email is placed with the others once you have joined the group.  When an agency needs a job covered in New York, you will get an email blast sent to your email address.  The agency will include contact info; i.e., phone number or email address and you just contact them directly.  No need to come back to the website.  There are thousands of reporters connected to cover depo groups here and they rarely come here but want to receive their job offers, which is the most important.
