Hi, does anybody use Reporter Works software? If so, do you like/dislike it? Thanks!

I purchased it for 2008's Christmas present to myself. I'm very happy with the product. Granted, I don't use all of its features, like job notification to reporters. But, I purchased it for mainly the ability to keep track of reporter payments, which I love. So far, knock on wood, I haven't had any payment mishaps regarding paying reporters (too much, too little, etc.)

Another feature that I LOVE is that it lists other amounts to pay if they don't pay it, say, 30 days. It bases it on whatever percentage you tell it to figure, and you can designate which invoices receive that special message. I've had quite a few invoices be paid with interest tacked on because of that feature.

Plus, Jason, the owner, is a really good guy and the one time I've had a question, he e-mailed me the answer within hours. You can't beat that as far as technical support goes.
Great info. Thanks!!! So you bought the firm version or whatever it's called and not the solo version? I really need the firm version but only want to pay the solo version price. LOL.
Judy, one more question, for each depo date, can you attach the notice to it? I'm not sure if that makes sense. Right now I use Outlook as my calendar and I can't attach the notice as a document, so I have to look at the date and time and then go locate the notice wherever I have it saved. I wish I could just attach it to the appointment. Thanks so much for your time!
Yes, I ~think~ I bought the firm version. Always optimistic, even in this economy, right?

AFA attaching notices, I've not tried to do that, so don't know if you can. I've not asked my clients to send the notice (back in the early days I did), since I found it can come in so many different formats, that I'm not sure I can open, it's just easiest sometimes not to give them that option. I had a client send me a WP document today and the only computer I could open it on was the one I'm trying to throw in the trash.

Seriously, if that makes sense to a lot of small firms, I'd bet Jason would listen and incorporate if he could. He really is a nice guy and does seem to listen.

There was a time -- far, far away, when I was a lot busier -- that I kept a file for every depo set. Maybe you could do that with your notices until you find a better way? At least then it'll be at your fingertips. Or, save it with a formatting sequence that you'll always be able to find it in a pinch, one that makes sense to your filing system.

I'm happy to answer any other questions, if I'm able.
